Bitcoin is a commodity ledger. It gains value as the ledger is used by business, industry etc. Gold is valuable because it has a base as a commodity.

A version of Bitcoin that does 3tps (BTC) has a real token value of about 50 cents. Only the original protocol can serve as a commodity, and this comes with scale and use, and acting within laws.
