I am a bible minimalist so it doesn't matter to me, I think the bible is mainly a human book but the Spirit of God inspired the writers to give a certain twist to it that makes sense from a theological point of view, it's about the big struggle between good and evil, about Christ as the Messiah, about the end of the world etc. God speaks in parables, prophecies etc. It doesn't matter to me that the OT stories didn't really happen historically or that evolution is likely to be true etc. I believe the bible is the word of man inspired by God but it's like the Spirit of God was overshadowing the writers rather than dictating it.
