It's even worse than you think, when you consider that every business you purchase goods and services from also has to pay taxes, so they mark everything up higher than it should be. Also they have to do payroll withholding for all their employees which means even higher markups. Then that markup gets taxed again with sales tax. ITT I live in the country with no tax on any sort of capital gains, including cryptocurrencies. The only exception - is immovable property gains within the country, which are taxed at 20%. Corporate tax is 12.5%. Income tax starts at 19,500 EUR NET, while most of the population gains (!!!) around 12,000-24,000 EUR GROSS per year, meaning, that after social and medical insurances contributions (total of 10%), most of the people will not pay income tax.
