Are colleges the biggest scam of the 21th century?

>college is a scam

This is what people who either weren't smart enough to get in to college or not smart enough to be successful out of college tell themselves to feel better about their mediocracy.

>> No.1701639

Depends on what you do.

Exactly. If you go to school for dance or exercise science, you can't complain when you are living in a cardboard box.

Idk op

My accounting degree is making me a lot of money. I wouldn't have the job I have now without it.

Then go into a non STEM degre like business or finance or economics.... you're whining because memes but it's still sad to watch

Find a wealthy man who was once polr and I'll 99% of the time show you someone who went to college to accomplish something.

College is an amazing tool to increase your worth, if you're too fucking stupid to do it right that's not the universities' fault

It is now days unless you are going into healthcare. Anything else is hit or miss.

Healthcare is the only sure thing. You can even just go to community college and become an RN.

This is what people who aren't good looking internet celebrities getting 5k per instagram post tell themselves to cope with their wagecuck reality.

Expensive colleges are.

There's no reason to pay $20K a semester for an accredited college when you can pay $2.5K or $5K for an accredited college.

ITT: go to Europe they will pay you to study

>> No.1701838

>>1701808
Oh and that is acutally the opposite, if you want to pay for uni pay for a good brand name, why the fuck would you pay for a shit place. Accredited sure, but its like youre saying showing up to pick up chicks in a beat up Toyota( it passed the technical exam to be allowed on the street ) is the same as a Ferrari right?

>> No.1701857

>>1701838

Connections are what counts, and the colleges where you get connections that are far and beyond any other are Ivy League and similar quality.

Other than that, the $20K a semester school and the $5K a semester school look exactly the same on your resume if they're accredited.

That's all they look for.

So unless you're a retard and go to a school that isn't accredited, why would you overpay for the same product?

That's like buying the same beat up Toyota and putting a racing kit on it. You overpay, you're not a real racer, and girls expect the exact same from you; that you're a guy who drives a beat up toyota.

Depends. If you want to be a doctor, lawyer or like a teacher yeah your going to need to go to school. If you want to truly want to be successful in business then most likely no (depending on how much you value college connections).

I think that you would be much better taking the money and stating some form of a business. Remember college is 4 years gone(sometimes 5 or 6 now) If you truly put in effort your going to be very successful as long as you persist.

For example if you are selling bananas you are likely going to be quite good at selling bananas after 4 years. You also have way more knowledge of the way real business works then the idiot who just got a piece of paper. You are now way ahead of the person who just graduated who has now just started selling bananas.

Remember college is a product for the 95% of the population who is risk averse and want a steady 9-5 job

I wish I knew this before going to grad school.

>> No.1703495

by in large yes.

when you actually get to the job market your about to find out that connections matters even more than your 100k degree, not even kidding.
major companies that should have serious management structures are father and son company or son & friends company

95 % of people at college don't need to be there. It is a waste of time and money.

Even worse than that, the people who do any humanities are being programmed with Marxist SJW bullshit that they will have to unprogramme themselves of someday. These people are actually being set back in life with these immature beliefs.

I'm an oldfag and I went to college (uni in England). If you're 18 today, don't fucking do it man, just start working

>> No.1703536

Not really a scam, because depending on your field, getting a degree will still be a profitable decision for you, but it's ridiculous that some jobs require a Bachelors or Masters degree when you could easily learn everything you need to know within ~1 year. It's basically just a way to separate the wheat from the chaff and it keeps capable young people from joining the work force until they are in their mid twenties. What I think is the best alternative is the integrated degree program.
