Just part of the narrative. It doesn't matter. However, Gavin is by far one of the characters who intrigued me the most. Still can't figure that dude out.

I watched this talk and still can't figure out what the fuck he was talking about here. Can somebody enlighten me about these particle swarm optimization algs on bitcoin and what they were doing? It sounds to me, a layman, that he's completely bullshitting, but I'm open to other explanations.

This was the first time I saw him talk on video. I hadn't been following crypto for a while and figured I'd catch up before the BTC/BCH split. I knew Gavin was behind him so at this point I did believe he was Satoshi.

The moment Craig opened his mouth I knew he was full of shit. A long string of mumbled jargon came out, with no attempts made to explain what any of it meant. "Anyone know what a wolfram 110 is?" He says it like everyone should be intimately familiar with the subject. Craig probably doesn't know what it means, and he doesn't need to, as long as he's confident enough that the audience doesn't. And make sure there's no time for the audience to ask questions by quickly moving on and drowning out everyone's attention span with more obscure jargon.
This way of speaking is explicitly designed to zone out listeners, make them feel dumb, which in effect raises the speaker's perceived intelligence. Compare to Rizun who spoke just before him at the same conference, he had a clear message and went out of his way to make sure everyone could follow along.
I don't know why BSV cultists keep reposting this image because it's one of the clearest examples of Craig spouting technobabble.

Now look any of these words up on google. Wolfram 110, it turns out, is basically a clone of Conway's Life with different parameters. A mildly interesting yet pointless compsci experiment, with absolutely zero practical applications. Craig seems weirdly obsessed with the notion of Turing-completeness and this particular system happens to satisfy that criteria. But calling it the "simplest" turing system is more than a bit of a stretch. In fact it seems overly complicated and highly inefficient, utterly unsuitable for anything but the simplest calculations. Now imagine this running on a blockchain, the least efficient write-only database known to mankind. Craig here makes no attempt to explain why anyone would ever want that, or what practical applications it could have.
A Commodore 64 also happens to be Turing-complete, is far simpler in operation than some stupid Life clone, and infinitely more efficient than anything that could be done on a blockchain.
