Is it just me or is the job market getting really fucking weird and petty lately? I joke about it being the new millennial way of hiring, but I think there's probably something to that. Its only been 5 years since the last time I looked for work, but I'm noticing a huge difference. It's very common for me to go through multiple rounds of interviews, only to be ghosted with no response....which is crazy to me. When I try to follow up I never get clear feedback, just "sorry, I don't have any feedback for you." or "they just decided to go with someone else." it's like, motherfucker, tell me what the actual issue is so that I can do better for myself next time.
but yeah, the whole ghosting interviewees after making them feel like they had a great interview is way too common now. the boomers were professional about sending rejections at least.

A big part of corporate hiring is diversity quotas. If you are a man and especially a white man, YOU ARE GOING TO BE PASSED UP. This goes double, even triple if you are interviewing in technology/software.

Combine this with ineffective mid managers, HR that is filled with women and yes its weird and gay as fuck. There are more women employed in the corporate system than men. That should tell you all you need to know.

yes, and I'm aware of this being the reason on a few rejections recently. I'm a white male software developer and every company in the area prides themselves on diversity. I can ace technical interviews and vibe with the team, but then have a final interview with the fat black woman from HR. it's obvious from the first second that she doesn't want to take my candidacy seriously. getting fucking tired of it desu.

It does make a difference. When I am hiring if the candidate sends a thank you email I notice. It's good manners and shows you can be humble and show empathy for thanking the interviewers for their time.
I wouldn't pass on a qualified candidate because they didn't send one. But if there are 2 candidates of similar qualifications and one sent a thank you and the other didn't. I'd hire the one that sent the thank you.

I got reprimanded for wearing jeans on a day that wasn't Friday. I know it's not company policy because people in other departments do it. I've read the employee manual front to back and there's not a single mention about wearing slacks or no jeans allowed.
It's such a small thing and I can't stop thinking about it; that my manager thought it was important enough to call me over to his office infuriates me. I'm making technical decisions and writing reports on multi-million dollar projects, and this is my only interaction in a 40 hour work week.

What I do is valuable, but I'm definitely not untouchable. Leaving would hurt them, but this manager replaced the one who hired me, I wouldn't put it past him to throw me under the bus for his mistakes or someone else doing the same.
I have a feeling that someone has a chip on my shoulder, and now that the manager who trusted and hired me is gone, people are trying to undermine me and this guy fired a warning shot after someone decided to complain about me.
Fuck me, my plan is to work a few more years, save up enough capital as a safe cushion and do freelance consulting work. Sadly yes. Not all but some do. The worst part is those interviewers likely hate it when they have to do the same. They're probably taking it out on others just to "get even" with those who did it to them first, likely without realizing that they're creating or continuing a chain.

I think I've only sent that type of email once or twice. Regreted it. Id rather risk losing out on the job than to do that but idk how I'll feel about doing that in the future (eg. My attempt to get dental insurance, get procedure, then probably quit soon after so in effect using them).

At the same time this is one of many, many reasons I'm attempting to escape wagecuckery and help my mom and siblings escape with me (dad is already retired). 1 method has failed, 2 remain.

Had a shitty job. Got pist off with how my supervisor continually stepped all over me. Found a new job and made an excuse to waste as much of my time off before quitting suddenly. She made it hard to use my time off and kept freaking questioning me, offensively. She was a busybody last I saw her. I kept faking a sad face and pretending there was a family emergency but being vague (even if it was legit I'd still be vague). If it was a legitimate family emergency I'd have quit on the spot (I mean she pist me off to the point that i literally stuck my hand in my pocket and was gripping my office badge ready to slam/slap it down on the desk and quit. Tried using a bit more sick days and she freaking called me threatening not to give me sick days if i didnt tell her. Faked a voice but felt somewhat legitimate which pist me off reeee stop acting scared self!!!! Gave her a fake but serious sounding excuse. Her response "That's it, why couldn't you tell me?" Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh disrespectful even though I was lying. If it was real I'd have broken off the restraints on my tongue and given her a verbal thrashing. Words that would cut her deep even after I'd be long gone.


Quit soon after using up most of my time, when she wasn't even there during the busiest time of the year in the office.

I regret remembering this. That woman pist me off so many times.

It's me again. Not much else to say. There's no point of holding that anger. Fairly sure she screws with my odds of getting a job now even though I never told her I was lying. Anytime I apply for a position with said organization they likely call her (since they can likely look me up and find her as my supervisor with said organization) and she probably says stuff that is illegal. Why do i suspect this? I had 1 or 2 ask me for the office I worked for so they can call for a reference. One time I even gave a different person, after which they went radio silent and I receive a rejection email like a month plus later. Considering how much i was used there and quickly outperformed her work quality while earning nearly half of what she made also pist me off. Considering how big of an employer they are in the area it sure makes it harder to find something else. Idk if she even works there anymore considering how often she screwed up. But apparently all her screw ups went unnoticed by her manager that's clearly unaware of what the job entails, including making a poor choice for a better position that I was suited for. Well this rant lasted a while didn't expect it to get this long. I dont want to wagecuck ever again.
