Obvious newfag, on the run up to $50 in 2011 people were buying silver sometimes at a 100% premium because online retailers were sold out and FOMO was setting in. They stand to gain a lot from the VATs and long term capital gains taxes. It's already in the books. At that point silver becomes a commodity that takes time to save up for.

Look at it this way: gold is <$1500/oz which means it is greater in value than the current dollar:silver ratio and the government is not confiscating it. Look at rhodium which is <$9K right now which is close to the current dollar:gold ratio and the government is not scrambling to seize it.

Depends on the shop but they often buy in bulk and thus they often sell at competitive premiums to many online dealers. Look up online deals and figure out the premiums (price per ounce minus the spot price per ounce) and then call up your local coin shops if you have any and ask for the same products.

Always remember a few things about coin shops:

1) They might offer low prices but they might also lowball you if you sell to them. Make anonymous phone calls to ask what they might buy your ASEs (or any other products you might have) for. Compare to their prices that they sell at and then compare to what you can buy online.

2) Keep in mind that some of the silver they sell they bought and probably in bulk for the lower premium so that they can make their money back. Also keep in mind that they might have bought so much silver at a different spot price than it is today.

3) They are a business. They have to put food on their tables too. Don't rush to think they are ripping you off. It is simply your right as a customer to take your business elsewhere if you do not like their offer.

much harder to off someone now than it was even 20 years ago, most of the time instead of killing opposition or potential opposition, they are just seduced by their endless flow of money, power, pseudo-fame and women. Adversaries often give in when just one is offered, seldom when offered all of them. Thus they are easily compromised. I have the green light to leak some truths, cut a deal with old money men who would don't like the younger generations gameplan of going about things, I'm protected by these old money men. And of course i drop nothing that is substantially damaging to them of course, and some at the top agree with my philosophies. Not like anything posted here will go viral or be believed anyways. One thing I do not understand about never selling assets is that I cannot understand the point in owning an asset that I never sell unless it produces cash flow which precious metals do not. There must be a point at which you sell silver or else it is not better than having no money at all.

To me the key is in saving up enough of it that it never has to be sold all at once. If it shoots up in value in the future as many hope it does then it becomes a matter of a few ounces per year. Personally I would sell in order to buy other real assets such as land or real estate. Real for real.

I do disagree with buying silver/gold above 5% of your total networth/investment. So If you have a 500k in net worth only 5k should be in precious metals.

Precious metal investment makes total sense in third world, inflation runs wild, your currency fluctuates a lot, therefore investing in precious metal where inflation moves between %10-%30 even %40 is worthwhile. But I dobut many of you live in Argentina or in Iran or in Turkey.
I really believe there is no reason to invest big in metals where inflation is 1-5%. I doubt anyone disagrees with this, which is why imho most silver sellers talk about collapse/walking dead/usa going bankrupt fear scenarios.

Not saying It can't happen, I mean an extremely powerful, mighty nation you might know, advanced in science in military, in arts literally collapsed in early 90s. So yes precious metals can be an insurance. But an insurance NOT an investment. Still, if there is a total collapse stockpiling bullets, food, or even tangible valuable shit like coffee or cigarettes might be better than metals. In a walking dead enviroment I rather have coffee then metal. And if you think your western 1st world country with 1-5% inflation will become Argentina or Turkey in next 5-10 years I really really want to listen to your reasoning.

One exception I will give is to buy low sell high meme, yeah if you believe there will be a financial crash next year and want to make a profit in short term that is a probable cause, but that would be more short term trading rather than long term investment to me.

So yeah I'm curious on your though process, do you bank all in in silver/precious metals?

I've seen a lot of "all or nothing" sentiments on /biz/, whether it be crypto, stocks, PMs, etc. I don't understand it personally, you can get exposure to all three. I suppose that attitude comes from a sentiment of "I am so sure that X is going to moon that why wouldn't I be all in?" It's the quintessential example of putting money where your mouth is.

If you "know" crypto will moon you'll all in crypto.
If you "know" stocks will continue to pump you'll all in stocks.
If you "know" PMs will be the key to a massive transfer of wealth once the fiat ponzi collapses then you'll all in PMs.

Agreed. Way I see it crypto and PMs are both gambling on the future of currency and the global monetary system. Investing some money in both increases odds of being correct.

Stocks on the other hand will get hit hard by any monetary overhaul. However, any shares you own you will still own if you do not sell. Because of the wonton destruction that a monetary reset will wrought upon the stock market it will be most advantageous to invest in index funds. Once the reset happens and prices deflate there will be new, unprecedented room for growth and prices will be rock bottom for buying with silver and gold.

It's good to invest in everything.

But yeah, bonds are shit. Stocks and real estate are the best performing assets and this was true back in the days of the gold standard so I believe that it is a mistake to not invest in them even when expecting a monetary revolution. Crypto is highly volatile and risky due to low market capital but it is young so history has yet to determine its value. Even under fiat PMs are a better long term savings than bonds, CDs, and savings accounts.

i don't disagree with your message, just pointing out that your delivery of that message is off-putting sometimes. also you are preaching to the choir. most if not all of us in these PM threads are well aware that silver has value. the challenge is accumulating more, finding good deals and storage strategies, etc.

there is still tons of valuable information to be traded among fellow silverchads. for example, someone said SDbullion has the lowest premiums. not true! compare the 10 oz silver RCM bar on SDbullion vs on JMbullion, it is lower on JMB by a dollar or so.

also someone said that these threads are by APmex shills. i have never purchased from apmex and don't really care for them. but yes, it is possible that a thread, any thread, can be made on /biz/ to shill something. but the difference is that now silver and PM threads are getting much more activity than 3-6 months ago. a few shills running multiple VPNs could not get this much activity. there is real, organic interest growing.

I have been buying a lot of silver because of these threads and I am in the Baltics but even here I seriously doubt that some sort of major collapse will happen and I do wonder whether the portion of silver that I own is a bit too high.

It's fun to collect, but what use is it in a normal financial scenario?

I am pretty sure there is silver left in the ground for mining so it's not exctly gonna explode is it? What are anons talking about when they talk about "making it" with silver?

And why don't anons with massive silver stacks ever convert to gold instead? I thought the end goal is pretty much always owning gold and silver is only bought because poorfags cant buy into the metals market otherwise?

Where do buy from in Estonia?
Also, regarding you asset composition, if you really want to store wealth precious metals is where you go to.
Physical cash and bank deposits lose to inflation, basic savings accounts with the government or banks lose to inflation, bonds have no yields right now, stocks may crash (there are the dividends, yes, but you don't want to start receiving dividends right now, that only comes later, so you might want an etf that automatically reinvests your dividends), real state is at all times high again, so the place where you can store really wealth is precious metals.

I tried to start gold and silver threads a couple of years ago and got like five or six replies almost all negative before they were deleted. But I kept buying.

It depends on the country where you are living.
We have in Germany 19% VAT on silver.
Only silver coins from non-eu-states have lower taxes thanks to the "Differenzbesteuerung".
Heck we even have so called coin bars to avoid the VAT.Just google after "münzbarren" for images.

I love silver but since I was a kid it has always been just about to moon or the fiat world has always been about to bust. Just buy and hold and pass it on to your kids.
