I'm trying to learn coding to get a decent job and get more money, but I find it extremely dull and boring, this is the same problem I've had since high school, where every subject felt extremely boring after a few days. How the fuck do you maintain any kind of discipline when you feel like this all the time while trying to learn something?

Honestly, forget it. It's not worth the hassle and you'll give up in the end. Coding is for schmucks.

Coding is a miserable activity

try doing something that actually interests you even if the pay isnt good, you'll be thankful you did in the future

you find it interesting
or have discipline

its like those chink kids where their parents beat them if they don't play piano for hours a day. they probably hate it at the time, but by the time they're 20 they can play piano expertly and they'll never forget how to play. and theyre thankful for it

>Coding is a miserable activity
sounds like every activity I've ever done.
is enjoying work a meme? is everything extremely boring? I'm trying to wrap my head around this, if it's a problem I have, or it's just common to get bored so easily with every job/education

its your problem, some people are really into their work. I get bored easily too. After experiencing 600% gains in a couple days during crypto bubble, everything else feels so dull

It's all in the way you frame it in your mind. There's such a thing as beautiful code. Code can inspires you similar to the way a great painting can inspire someone. It helps to have an excellent teacher. Short of that, find a good author or educator that produces videos. It also helps to be learning on an expressive and concise language like Javascript or python as opposed to overly verbose static-typed languages like Java. Once you get to the point where you see coding as fun and beautiful, build something that excites you.

If don't like it, don't force yourself to do it.

you need to have a reason to learn beyond "more money" or "my jerb". I learned because i needed a way to automate a mundane part of my job.

Don't bother, you won't be able to compete with foreigners and people who unironically enjoy programming.
I am thinking about computers and programming the majority of my waking life.

Think about the goal you want to achieve. Coding is a necessary step to get there. Coding per se isn't fun, but accomplishing something through coding is.

Learn to code is a meme, unless you really love to do it, or you're talented enough to learn it faster, than most other people. Because of all the coding boot camps, online tutorials, and e-learning platforms there is an excess of low tier coders. If you can't skip through them, then there is really no point in learning to code. And the best way to do that would be to learn from books, and working on open source projects.

I suggest to find something, that you actually enjoy doing. For me, after I dropped out of CS it was economics, investing, and recently I've started planning to open with my sibling business thanks to gains we made on crypto.
