I don’t let cable news into my life except CNBC, and I’m going to be much more vigilant about limiting that too.

I mostly just want daily/weekly/monthly updates from people who know shit about markets. Just podcasts from the investment firms for long term ideas, and the. The daily updates from the economist, barrons, the wsj. They’ve really helped keep me realistic when everyone is panicking about WW3 or recessions and crashes or whatever.

Sector ETFs are often shit, especially meme sector etfs.

Just buy some NTDOY, SNE, and MSFT on dips, maybe some ATVI or something too, and keep your eye out for opportunities in streaming companies or something.

I feel retarded for not buying SNE last year. The Street loved everything they had to say about cars at CES.

Almost the same boat.
Although, I'm not working for a non-profit, nor the government, so it'll be at least a decade or more before that happens.

When you account for inflation, you realize that it's best to let the clock run out.

If you want it to get better, people just have to stop going to college if they aren't getting significant tuition assistance. Just don't take out the loans, just don't go.
It's not even that hard to get scholarships, I got like half of my college paid for just by getting a decent ACT score, with no diversity points. I didn't even have to apply for it or anything, it was part of the system

Funny thing is, I had two academic scholarships for 4 years but it still wasn't enough because I wasn't dickless enough, nor black enough.

I think that it would get better as college stops being so accessible due to money not being handed out on street corners anymore.
Imagine if we had to actually had to prove the field that we were going into and come up with a plan in order to please servicers. There would be no way that schools could get away with the tuition.

Ending student loans and allowing new loans to be forgiven in bankruptcy would fix this shit over time.

My other hot take on education is that companies basically expect schools to do all of the training and hand them experienced, well educated laborers on a silver platter. Then the companies scrimp on training.
From a STEM perspective, I always thought that our current undergrad system (~4 years in university, internships maybe, then BAM out into the job market) isn't sensible or efficient. The actual companies hiring the graduates need to be more integrated into the student's education before they are out of university, a 2-year or 3-year accelerated system would probably be better, with a 1-2 year training in the industry when you get out.

The current system relies too much on competing for summer internships to get experience. Those jobs are limited, diversity gets to stand at the front of the line and then foreigners even are taking spots... so a kid who doesn't have any diversity points needs to get lucky to get anything.

I don't know how non-STEM degrees work so no comment on those. But the division between education and industry seems like a needlessly large chasm that a lot of fresh graduates have difficulty navigating. Instead, the path from learning about advanced subjects into working in the field should be streamlined, it should be connected directly.

>> No.16919393

I agree with you there.
The expectation that schools should be the only way to go vs. on the job training is dumb. My thinking is that it's just a bunch of ring-knockers forcing people to go through the same shit that they did as a form of "hazing" or something like that.
Just like test scores don't necessarily indicate guaranteed success in college, a 4-year degree doesn't necessarily indicate guaranteed success in the workplace.

That stems from companies, and seniors in general, not investing directly into youth. Instead, they try to offload that cost onto schools and the students themselves.

it wasn't the way it is now until recently (last 10-20 years) in STEM when college admissions really took off and we started getting a lot more foreign-born skilled workers.
In non-STEM fields it is probably about the same, it has to do with the fact that a huge number of high school students were going to college and suddenly you a bunch of English majors graduating where before they would have gone into the workplace with just a HS diploma. HR at companies just take advantage of that.

You also need to remember how the money creation mechanism works. The fed "prints" money by making loans to banks, who are in turn making loans to other actors (banks, business, homebuyers, consumers, students, etc.). So the amount of money creation will be based on the rate that people are borrowing money. The stock prices are tangentially related, but the prices of the basket of goods that result in the inflation metric have different price effects.

Upon cursory dive in to the fundamentals involved I realized I was way out of my depth and needed to spend a lot more time on the FA to get a half ass grasp on it. Fortunately these things are feasible to trade with TA only as far as I'm concerned.

Education system is a joke. H.R is a joke. Combined its a cluster fuck. Then you have low end jobs such as walmart, fast food, etc forking out $15 per or offering other benefits to attract workers which these companies don't give a damn if your a college grad or not. All they care about is you, a body to do the job. Which thanks to the above benefits your seeing a glut of older people take advantage. Hell why not? Getting paid $15 per to just deliver pizza around in your car? And not dealing with bullshit or being tied to a desk or dealing with paperwork out the ass? and getting paid a very nice salary for such easy effort. Why the hell shouldn't you do it. Oh and not having to have a damn college degree either so less debt you gotta pay off. It's all a damn joke. The state police here state that in order to get on with them you gotta be a college grad or be age 21, H.S grad, and have 2 years employment history. WTF? What does having 2 years employment history have to do with being a cop? Jack shit. It serves zero point. Cause during the academy training they teach you all you need to know to be a cop. I'm not a cop btw but that's what it says.

The folks on tradingview vary all over the place. A tendency of concern they seem to all have is trying to forecast multiple moves; like, bottom will be here, it'll bounce to here then pull back to here, etc. Too much. I try to do my TA such that I'm only concerned about one move at a time. Say, it seems to have formed a bottom and buyers arrive on the field, stuff happens for a few days, if that stuff is just right I go long. This has a higher percentage of actual success for me than the tradingview people's Nostradamus attempts.
