Its quite possible that Dave either bought or had an interest in mining. Just as we do have evidence of Creg buying on MtGox in 2013-2014 timeframe.

The most likely explanation is exactly what his mom said about him. Creg took some small piece of truth (Dave + Creg buying btc early on and maybe doing some mining) and then spun it into a whole delusional web. Think of this when you read the quote from Cregs Mom:

But why would he sign now if he has them? If this is all real, he has 1M+ BTC to unload. Why crash the price? Why cause BSV to skyrocket? Doesn't it make more sense that he does exactly what he's said he is going to do? Unload it slowly and then crash BTC when the reward gets cut in half? Again, by $ value I'm more heavily invested in BTC, but from a common sense point of view I just can't see what CSW has to gain by lying. See, I wish I knew more about you and your background. I got into crypto kinda by accident when a few of my customers said they would only pay me in BTC. That slice of revenue wasn't crucial, so I ended up just accumulating BTC back in 2016 and onward and learning about the magical internet money that I now had.
