What if you live in a metric part of the world like central Europe?

Should I buy coins or should I buy bars?

>> No.16737507

>>16737444
Cant really help you with the metric system m8 maybe do a conversion from troy ounces to grams or w/e.

Coins or bars is the age old question. You pay more for coins because of the work that goes into them and some are wanted by collectors and can be sold more easily in some areas, no idea about Europe. Bars are cheaper and you get more silver for the price but are sometimes harder to sell and don't hold resale value as well, it more depends on the price of silver. But if the silver price ever skyrockets you will make just as much on bars as coins because the cost of the metal will outweigh the cost or rarity of the coin and people will want it for the metal alone.

It's a fuck ton of work in shitty weather most of the time. Your trudging through deep drush made of devils club looking for a trench someone dug 100 years ago or a rock outcrop that was mislabeled with gps that was actually 10km from where you started looking.

It can be so rewarding though when your walking up a creek and sit down for lunch, look down and pick a small gold nugget off bedrock.

If your fearless of the outdoors and being alone in the middle of nowhere for weeks on end than this is the job for you.

>one of the reasons we got rid of gold backed dollar in the first place? not enough gold to keep an economy growing, it eventually just stagnates and recesses
Fuuuuck this is so not true at all. Arguably the MOST prosperous time in our economy was back in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Real wealth, real growth, this is when electric appliances started to become viable and the classic American dream came into focus. All of a sudden families could, for example, store perishable food at home for long periods of time in a magic box that kept things cold. Electric mixers, vacuum cleaners, fucking air conditioning, the 1880s through the 1920s must have been an amazing time to live through.

And this greatest period of expansion and progress was all DEFLATIONARY. Fuck I get so tired of people unknowingly poisoned by Keynes buying into this ridiculous Cult Of Inflation.

The reason it all fell apart in the late 1920s was that we started violating the gold standard, debasing the currency, and allowing cheap money and credit to flood the financial economy (as opposed to the real economy). The reason we "temporarily" went off the gold standard in 1971 was that the currency debasement had gotten to such a bad level by that time that other countries (like UK) called our bluff and began demanding their gold. We didn't have enough gold to redeem, so Nixon was forced to reneg. https://youtu.be/7_Xw5tWsOQo

there are what we call "flippers" who use the antiquated government websites flaws to grab up basically any claim that comes open in specific areas. They make money by selling these claims to idiots on kijiji or ebay, however this have been sort of dealt with by the BC and Yukon governments its still quite widespread. They use computer bots to near instantly acquire and pay for the claim, than have another one instant post the claims for resale. I saw a claim last year get taken by one of these guys than only 2 minutes later there was a listing for it on kijiji with a complete site bio and bs information about testing and gold values.

Each claim costs $100 to stake. These guys than sell the claim anywhere from $1100 to $50000. They almost never actually visit the ground they claim, they use false advertising. Its a real scam that doesnt work on professionals but goes after foreigners like Chinese and Germans looking to go gold mining like their ancestors.

not really a heck of a lot other than the laws if your caught. basically if your caught "claim jumping" in canada you have to not only pay for the gold you recovered, and also pay a fine anywhere between $2500 to $100000 depending on what you were caught doing. The government can also come and confiscate anything they believe was proceeds of your illegal mining. They can go after your truck, they confiscate your mining gear, basically anything they can remotely pin to your theft.

It depends though what you were doing. If your caught hand panning next to a creek a claim owner can just tell the guy to get lost and not do it again. If you caught someone with a washplant, excavator and crew of dudes the charges get crazy fast.

depends on the area. where I work 99% of the time no one is around and i ll watch people go and snipe / claim jump all the time, but no one reports it because its almost always on ground owned by flippers so since we all hate them we ignore it. Personally I dont give a shit if people come and pan or sluice on my claims because they rarely find anything and because its fun to have company around. Now if I caught some jackass with an excavator on one of my claims I would be taking a lot of photos and having a chat with the cops but thats different than some dad and his kid out for an afternoon panning trip.

Once a year the government flys inspectors around on helicopters to make sure everyones following the rules and actually digging on their own ground but other than that unless someone calls in some bullshit like chinese shit heads dumping used motor oil in the creeks there are basically no regulators around.

The card has a $95 annual fee but also came with a $600 initial bonus when you spend more than $4k in the first three months (which I did basically the first week). Plenty of people are "buying" gold/silver right now because even the mainstream media is shilling it. I watch CNBC a lot (usually playing in the background at work) to keep up with what the dumb money is doing, and just the other day they had a whole piece on gold. Also Jim Cramer on Mad Money is now saying "10-20%" for portfolio insurance, when he used to say 5-10%.

Of course, when people call in and ask about gold (more and more nowadays) he always says buy the GLD. So the normie interest is picking up, and most of them are piling into the fake paper markets. Either direct investing, or more likely through their 401k or IRAs. That's bullish for physical gold because when liquidity hits the fan everyone is going to find out how massively inflated the ETFs and other paper funds really are. Demand for real, PHYSICAL metals will far outpace the supply for physical metals.

What's hilarious to me is that the (((custodian))) and primary authorized dealer for the SLV is JP fucking Morgan. The custodian for the GLD is HSBC. That isn't going to end well

He rables like crazy but a ton of his calls are spot on. That's the only reason I keep listening.
In early 2019
He predicted the fed would cut rates, not raise them and everyone said he was wrong (fed did cut rates 3 times )
He said there would be QE4 (fed started repo operations aka qe4)
He said gold and silver would rise when others said it could fall to 1000 first (it went straight to 1550)
