There is no way that Chainlink will gain adoption with the current gas rates, and desu it looks like they're not even trying with the whole focus on DeFi. Now what you need to know is that DeFi, and Synthetix even more so, is just a pyramid scheme with asset trading volumes literally the size of a fly's shit on the wall. Notice I said trading volumes, because that's not what they want you to focus on. Synthetix would want you to look at the amount staked, because $200M (or whatever it is currently) in tied up capital looks much better than whatever pennies people are actually trading their shitty synthetic assets. It's like the Herbalife businessmodel, they have close to a quarter of a billion dollars as the counterparty for non-existent trading, because nobody gives a shit about the synthetic assets, they just want muh 150% APR.

Long story short, Chainlink is currently so focused on pandering to a pyramid scheme that they have not produced anything technologically meaningful since launching their shitty mainnet, and they don't seem to see anything wrong with this, literally introducing heartbeat price feeds for synthetix assets with 0, I'll say that again, ZERO trading volume. At the same time, we also have not gotten any news about real-world (non crypto scam) adoption for over 6 months now, and it doesn't seem like we'll necessarily ever get any again.

For added keks, whip out your calculator and see how much a single price feed with 21 nodes would cost at market rates (call it $0.3/call to be conservative) and realize that nobody, NOBODY will ever use this shitty network unless Chainlink subsidizes 100% of the calls, which they have been doing, and we have yet to see 1 mainnet call that wasn't paid for by cucked LINK holders. Synthetix, the second biggest DeFi app could literally not afford link for a single price feed if they had to pay for it themselves.

Chainlink is absolutely, utterly fucked beyond belief.

As for the gas cost thing:
1) even current gas prices are nothing compared to the cost savings related with the automation provided by mainstream smart contracts (derivatives, bonds, basic financial products, ...)
2) many efforts are underway to reduce gas costs, both on the side of ETH and Chainlink
3) Chainlink is blockchain agnostic, so gas costs are all but irrelevant

As for DeFi being a pyramid scheme; DeFi stands for "decentralized finance", which is basically why crypto (starting with Bitcoin) and "smart contracts" (invented in the 90s) were even invented.
Calling that a "pyramid scheme" is like calling all hammers "murder weapons" because people have been killed with them.

Meanwhile the original wp is about 10% implemented and Chainlink isn't live on any other chain than Ethereum because they don't know how to port over the token. The network is a KYCd POS, but it doesn't even matter because literally nobody is using it (CL paying for their own heartbeat calls is not usage). See you guys in 2030, and that's being optimistic.

24h total volume 178k. DigiByte, fucking DIGIBYTE ALONE has almost 5x that. 90% of all Synthetix assets have ZERO TRADING VOLUME, and IETH/SUSD, the 9th most traded asset has $7.91 of volume in the last 24h.

Network usage will play a part in it, sure.
Link's market cap will have to reflect a certain proportion of the total value being transacted via the network.

But what will also drive the price is the thing that's 100% responsible for the Bitcoin and ETH pumps: pure speculation.

Amazon wasn't a complete mess. And what does Amazon have to do with Chainlink?

Decentralized Finance is a meme that no one will be talking about in 6 months, just like no one was talking about it 6 months ago. Just like IEOs, decentralized exchanges, privacy coins, smart contracts, and every other bull shit application for a blockchain.

Blockchains are so incredibly far from being able to compete with current databases in any way. No one is going to use any of this technology for a LONG time...if ever.

>> No.16725439

>>16723125
>In July 1995, the company began service as an online bookstore.[14] The first book sold on Amazon.com was Douglas Hofstadter's Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought.[15] In the first two months of business, Amazon sold to all 50 states and over 45 countries. Within two months, Amazon's sales were up to $20,000/week.[16] In October 1995, the company announced itself to the public.[17] In 1996, it was reincorporated in Delaware. Amazon issued its initial public offering of stock on May 15, 1997, at $18 per share, trading under the NASDAQ stock exchange symbol AMZN

What a complete mess!

If you want a complete mess: look at Chainlink. Mainnet out for over six months and not a single viable use case. They're trying to push the DeFi meme...I work in Finance. No one in the industry has heard of nor has any interest in this nonsense. You really think you're going to have p2p financing anytime soon? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? 1000 Haitians in Miami would take loans with stolen identities and a penny wouldn't get recovered. Then what? Is your decentralized insurance company going to bail you out?

Come on.
