Hello frens. It’s me, your friendly neighbourhood unemployed Physicist with a PhD from an Ivy League tier uni.

In the last thread I was bragging about getting a job delivering pizzas.

Unfortunately, I didn’t even last more than 2 weeks in that role.

Turns out some customer complained about the pizza being too cold on delivery that they refused to pay. After speaking with my manager, they had me deliver some complimentary pizzas to the customer. However, the customer still complained about the pizzas being too cold, paid half price and then slammed the door on my face. Returning back with half the money received, the manager screamed at me and fired me soon after.

Well that’s it biz bros. I’m unemployed again. I guess my RNG is just too heavily biased against me.

But why magnetic field lines follow such a path around N/S poles, it’s still an unsolved mystery in Physics.

My theory is that it’s just some type of force from another dimension leaking into this one.

But don’t take my word for it - I’m just an unemployed NEET now.

So Is my situation really that unique? What are the employment statistics like for people with PhD in Physics from Ivy League tier unis?

I think it depends a lot on:
1. Degree
2. Which college you went to.
3. The person in question.

If you have a shit degree, went to a shit college, and you are low iq, low social skills person , with not many abilities, then you're probably becoming unemployed and are better of working in something easier that doesn't require college.

I basically couldn’t find a job after graduation which is why I stuck around to do a PhD.

Biggest regret of my life desu. I should have just taken some shit job in a warehouse like people in my cohort did, since now they are killing it in their careers.

If people read this, do not do what I did.

Also it’s a meme that anyone can make it if they just work hard enough. I spaced 12 hours a day in underground laboratories and still couldn’t make it. Those that do are truly academically gifted or protégés. Every single postdoc and Professor was a valedictorian or won numerous academic awards before.

I even did some statistics on this a while back by building a scraper to collect all the names and past history of academics. Something like more than 90% were gifted academically from school through college and grad school.

This really doesn’t matter as much as people think. All that does is widen your margin for error a little bit. If you worked in a medical engineering lab, can you do something with medical physics?

The next breakthroughs in medicine are all in physics. the current medicine paradigm is all chemistry. Something happens to your body and they try to find some obscure chemical that you have to take every day for the rest of your life. This doesn't fucking work.

I suggest you look into electricity in the human body and how to go about healing everyone's internal electrical Network. All cells operate on certain voltages in order to work right, and you have sickness in those cells if the voltage is too far in the positive or negative direction.

Read the book Healing is Voltage by Dr. Jerry Tennant. Look him up on YouTube. If you can make sense of what he's saying, you can build something that will help change the world. Guaranteed.

Did you get a scholarship? Otherwise your story is 100% unbelievable, as your parents had the means to finance you through college, therefore, they have a network.

>> No.16588776

Degrees are simply proof you managed to make it through a higher education. I'm not that interested in that. What you do with that education, the stories around that and how it is manifest in your and the lives of others is the valuable part for me. I have known many students who seem confused at how unimpressed I am at their ability to repeat the information taught to them. Confused because they paid a lot for it, assumed it was extremely valuable as a result and important and impressive to everybody. Like ... dude you sat through a lecture on something. I get it. But what did it cause you to go out and do next?

A lot of students are incapable of doing stuff. They don't self direct. They haven't any goals past graduate and then get given a comfy job on baller money where they'll be taught how behave in the workplace like the babies they are. I get that. New graduates without work experience, especially if they've a sheltered upbringing or are extremely specialised in their field to the point where they have devoted most of their life to it can be underdeveloped in other areas meaning they are no better than a 16 year old school drop out with a handful of brain cells. Sometimes worse because they have expectations based upon the value of their knowledge.

>I learnt all this shit online and through libraries, using it in real projects born of passion and enthusiasm, but I realised quickly that if I want to be taken seriously and progress to the next level I needed professional accreditation so I did my degree.

Excellent.

>I thought I'd get good money and a good job if I applied myself. My achievements so far amount to affording higher education.

Bad.

Also would say I'll pay for specialisation that I need, but the job market is fucking brutal. You've got graduates who often don't know how to work competing with people who know how to work and are in the process of or are willing to get qualifications competing with older people looking for a less stressful role competing with mothers returning to the workplace now their children are older competing with old ass dudes who are bored in retirement.

I understand I'm not a big corporate entity looking to hire 50 specialists for a project or employ hundreds of specialists worldwide at any one time with a complex staffing need involving replacement staffing, graduates through to retirees over 50 years of fucking operation. But do you know how many people apply to those jobs from around the world and how wide the talent pool is and how the name of the company basically pulls people in?

If you are a basic bitch boy you aren't standing out for anything other than remedial technical work which grinds you down. You want to view it like stocks, you want a prospect with risk and reward where you can through ability see significant potential for growth from both sides.

You have the ability I need. I can get you cheap. I don't specialise in your ability and cannot completely supervise you. I expect you to grow to surpass my abilities through self direction and enthusiasm. I will have to teach you to understand work and become somebody who can get stuff done and be a self directed problem solver who can add value to the business over time. The potential is as far as you can take it. I just curate the environment.

I couldn't understand why I attitude of entitlement wasn't getting past middle management. It was because I was basically a corporate administrator who could perform a function well, but lacked the drive and desire to play the game.

From my perspective at the time the game was basically prove yourself invaluable to sociopathic individuals who literally rate you according to how valuable you are to them and how much time you cost them constantly.

Honestly. The more you can do. The more you can self direct. The more invaluable you become because you can be left alone to perform and shit doesn't fall apart. You constantly meet the needs of the business and are able to justify everything rigorously on demand. You eventually know your worth and can dictate your terms.

Or leave. You won't have a problem finding a better job with a better attitude and ability.

Basically, ferrous material can be oriented when casted onto a magnetic field.
That's why heating a magnet can make it loose it's peoperties.
And that's how you make them too.
There is no energy circulating in a magnet, you can only gather energy by moving them, effectively converting mouvement to magnetic field changes.
This allows to convert movement to electricity, or the oposit (generator or motor).
There is no magic nor parallel universes involved.

Anon, most lab rats and TA's I've seen that "make it" to evenutally become professors or get a job at a prestigous private company like Eli Lily tend to either have valuable connections, or if female or female (male) they performed "favors". Assuming you're not female, but possible a fag, you most likely failed in attaining social capital to eventually persue a worthwhile career.
I was fucked on my luck the beginning of the year having been a laid off engineer. I eventually started using the free time to join entrepreneur groups, attend Rotary clubs, and similar groups. Eventually I sparked a connection at a local Toastmasters club that eventually got me my current job over 70 other potential candidates. If you have no social capital, you will have no "real" capital.

Hey man, last-year physics Phd here.
You should try applying to banks for some economic analysis shit. Say you have a background in physics and made money with crypto which is why you didn't go for a job immediately. Something like that.
Physics people are wanted by banks for whatever dumb reason.
