Can't someone just find where the bitcoin code is and delete it since it's open source?

make a commit that replaces the 21 million hard cap limit to "poo poo pee pee"

>> No.16581254

Guys what if we submitted a valuable improvement or bugfix but also added a tiny change to the protocol so that at at a certain date the block reward changes to 9000 btc and got the commit and right before it hit we shorted $10000000 on bitmex for the lulz

only 6000 people would review it and you don't have commit rights anyhow only pull requests

>> No.16581308

>commit rights
Isn't it open source?

>> No.16581320

>>16581308
yes but you cant change it. just wait for an authority figure from r/bitcoin to announce that its time to fork and do what they say so we can get rich

>> No.16581334

open source doesn’t mean you can add shit whenever you want
you do a pull request and it is reviewed 1000 times before it’s committed to main branch to avoid security/logical bugs, consistency, performance loss etc
if you want to do it your way you can just fork it and make an other shitcoin

you are free to make a fork nobody would use of course
