How my bros who fell for the college meme holding up?
70k here

Imagine not understanding that tuition costs have skyrocketed solely because government is handing out student loans like candy.

My loan was £3.5 because I dropped out after one year so I got off very lightly compared to most as far as the debt goes. I didn't pay off anything for like a decade because I was either in no job or in a poorfag job so it climbed to about £4k (again, I got off lightly). Got a good job half a year ago after sorting my shit out and busting my ass for like a year before. In the six months since, I've got it down to £1.8k. Should have it paid off in about six more months. Less if I cut a few expenses.

I'm 30. Had 35k student loans, paid them off by deciding to live with my parents instead of getting an apartment. It took 2 long years, but it was totally worth it. I've been debt free for the past 5 years now

43k in debt here. Made my first $300 payment last week.

>>16510247
That's not our fault. People need to go to college, so there is no choice but to take out loans. Price gouging is illegal, but apparently not for colleges.

How are americans so dumb? I pay 400 euro for tuition every year. I skip almost every lesson and work at home. You just need a book and get a degree for it.

You also probably pay twice as much us in taxes for your entire life. The cost of tuition is most definitely a stumbling block early in life, but it might be better for us in the long run if it means not having to pay 50% income tax on an 80k salary.

I can work in the USA or any other country. I don't need to stay in Germany. US students are fucked until they are 40 or even 50. They will never have any passive income for their wealth. They are the perfect wage slaves, while I am free and can accumulate money

You don’t NEED a college education. Going to college can certainly help develop a professional future, especially in certain fields, but the notion that it’s a necessity is purely a boomer meme. They were the last generation where just having a high school diploma was good enough to get a fulfilling career able to support a home and family. The boomers who went to college often excelled among their peers as they were more desirable in the job market. They, in turn, told their children to all go to college. Now there’s a massive glut of college educated personnel in the labor force, so much so that a standard 4 year degree is beginning to mirror a high diploma -everyone has one so they don’t matter. The only difference is you didn’t foolishly pull out a life-debt of a loan to pay for high school.

>US students are fucked until they are 40 or even 50.

The only way this can happen is if you become a doctor or professor with 100-400k in loans, and decide to only make minimum payments. If you have even a mediocre job making 40k (like I do), you can pay off your loans in less than 10 years.

>They will never have any passive income for their wealth.
Complete horseshit. You can still start a business or make investment while having student debt. You europoors with no access to cheap credit don't realize how easy it is to maneuver and live with debt here.

Americans complain about debt, but the truth is that there are all kinds of way dodge it here. I recently disputed a $1000 dollar medical bill on my credit report, and they just wiped that shit away without me ever paying a cent. Most people here don't actually become financially literate until 30s or 40s when they are trying to buy a home, so they think debt is a bigger than it actually is. Americans also suck at saving money.

I would literally kms if I was 5-6 figures in debt over this bullshit.

Don't join any military branch unless you want to unironically kys. I mean for fucks sake, you are smarter than all those dumb motherfuckers. Just open your mind and explore different fields. Talk to a professional career guidance counselor and get some career advice if you are a derpy autist. Fuck you and fuck the military man.

I'm at $50k or so now. Still 8 years left to pay on this shit.

I've got a good job and still appreciate my major but damn, if I'd only settled on a slightly lower-tier university and gotten fat scholarships I'd be looking at $6-700 more per month in my pocket, instead I've got this ball and chain holding me back.

90k but I went to law school.

My ex and I just broke up a couple weeks ago so I moved home. Put 2k into loans right away, about to pay off my first loan on Wednesday. Going to do this a few months probably pay off half my loans in 6-8 months. Hopefully the housing market crashes and then I'm set.

-17.5k debt
-9k networth though
65k/yr out of college

Will have it all paid off by 2021. Don't pick a bullshit degree and understand your job market. Get an internship or some form of relevant experience. At the very least hold a job through college.

Actually, I don't know why I even went, because I stopped caring during the third year and stopped going entirely.
They disqualified me for federal loans because of that, so if I want to keep going, I have to pay for an entire semester on my own, which I can't do.
Sucks, I was using the leftover from the federal loans each semester to buy onaholes.
