Higher education shouldn't cost anywhere near as much as it does. In 20 years the cost of tuition has gone up 100-300% and education hasn't improved enough to justify the price hike. I agree that people do need to pay back the loans, but the loans shouldn't be as much as they are.

I think the whole debt situation boils down to our country's fiscal policy. Salaries are stagnant while the USD loses purchasing power. That gave higher education the power to charge higher and higher tuition while over-promising results. College/University is essentially a scam at this point, but the loans are very real.

Lots of kids my age got totally fucked by this scam and the funniest part is that EVERYBODY is going to suffer for it. If people can't pay back their loans or just straight up refuse to do so, nobody is going to be buying houses, cars, etc. etc.

The bubble will burst and everyone will be fucked, not just the idiots that took out 6-figure loans. Boomers will be dead by then though.

didn't matter how many kids dropped out 2 years in, didn't matter how many kids were better suited for trade school, and it didn't matter that some kids had to take on 100k worth of debt to go, the whole system pressured you to pursue college so they could keep that rate up.

1. 7% average inflation of college tuition every year
2. Economy has out most of the high paying jobs that don't require college
3. Predatory lending practices
4. Bankruptcy laws changed by lobbyist paid by usurers
5. Snarling contempt by dinosaurs who made six figure incomes with no college education or trade skills anytime you bring up the problem

Granted, none of this much affected me. I got a full ride for tuition, but back in the early 90's my full ride would have covered both tuition and housing. The reality of the modern economy is that we start competing to each other's lunch in fucking grade school and that's something that an entire generation of people who never needed more than a diploma and a job down at the factory will never choose to try and understand, which is why I don't care that technology horrifies them so much.

Completely retarded. If left to their own devices the average child will not educate themselves, and most parents do not have the time nor ability to teach their own children. Like it or not, the purpose of the school system is to create of minimum level of competence for all members of society, not to create a bunch of genius. The smart ones will teach/study more in and out of school regardless of what goes. The system exists mainly for the stupid ones.

Well, if you want to be an "accountant", you're going to make 40-60k, probably the lower end. Really depends on the company. And you'll probably stay within 5k of that for 2 years.
Working at a CPA firm is a lot different. Overall the job really sucks so they have to pay a lot, relatively, and promote quickly to get people to be their slaves. I live in Ohio,US for reference. I started at 55k and have received 1 raise too, didn't negotiate.

Most loans allow the borrower to declare bankruptcy and not pay the loan back. They often have terms that allow the lender to claim the assets of the borrower, but after that the loan is considered settled. It also affects if the person can get a loan in the future. However, it has the protection that the _lowest_ you can go is zero. The ability to declare bankruptcy allows people to take risks, while having downside protection, as well as allowing them to cancel it.

Student loans are different, and go against hundreds of years of lending practice. With student loans, the borrower CANNOT declare bankruptcy. It is held above their head forever, and prevents them from ever meaningfully growing in society. Lenders love to give them out, because they know the kids can't back out of the loan. It's incredibly predatory, and against pretty much every other lending practice in modern history.

Bankruptcy is not a good thing, but it's way better than being enslaved for life. Lenders for student loans should have to eat the costs for kids that can't pay the money back, so that in the future they don't give out so many.

Nope. My sister graduated with a 4.3 and is going to ucla for applied mathematics. She still has to pay 10k a year for her tuition.

Also, youre a total brainlet. Dumbasses cant fucking think. The real issue is the fact that employers are allowed to ask for degrees when it isnt essential for the job. For instance, my other sister has a stem degree. The job she has has nothing to do with her degree (execut. admin.) but the thing is she wouldnt have gotten the job without the degree.

I agree, but I've had conversations with white middle class liberals who still believe there's inherent value in having a professor and classmates to help guide your studies. There are many people out there still living in a fantasy where others actually have worth and things of value to say.
>But the vacuum of degrees would need to be filled by a standardized way to screen out brainless.
That's only half the concern. You want workers who will be loyal as well, and you cannot screen for that except through employment history.
But to answer your question, you have them take an obstacle course: a fake day on the job that simulates how it would really be if they were to work for you. Have candidates come in and take a test that is actually a workday---if they can handle the challenges thrown at them in that fake workday, they can probably be trusted.

That's how fiat money is "printed".
The added money is supposed to be the interest paid after the term of the loan.

>>16507406
>The bank can just create out thin air into you bank account
That's how fiat money is printed, yes.

Doesn't change the fact that you as a private person can lend as much money as you want to anyone you want under whatever conditions you want with as much or as little collateral as you want.

YES IT DOES.

A Bank can issue a loan without collateral or fiat collateral.

You can not.

That the power I want.

When I have that power then I can issue myself a loan, pay of any debt, or forgive any debt, or compete with any bank to issue a loan.

banks are a monopoly as it the state in debt issuance, without collat.

You really need to do some reading on how money supply is made.

here's a hint now person ever made money from work or sharemarkets, only given monet from a presisiting ledger.

It literally is the government's fault. The federal government were the ones that made student loans exempt from bankruptcies, as such banks basically don't give a shit who they lend to, because THEY WILL get their money. They will just sue the shit out of you or garnish your wages, and you can't declare your way out of it. It literally is the government's fault. They created the incentive for banks to engage in negligent lending.

That's not accurate in this discussion.

Banks can only lend as much as they're going to make in interest.
This additional amount is the amount of fiat money being "printed".

And this is ultimately backed by the collateral of the loan issued by the bank to the private person/company.

This was my point all along.
The amount of money being "printed" is the same as the percentage of inflation; which is under 2%.

This is the interest that is supposed to be paid by the borrower, backed by the collateral put up by the borrower.

Also no one is forcing a bank to call in a loan.

Also the GFC was exactly about this they banks made a whole load of unbacked loans and were bailed out by QE.

You have missed the entire point.

When I can issue debt like a bank or gov, without collateral and this include printing fiat, which is now digits in a bank account THEN I can pay of any loan.

What?

>No not all all they can lend as much as they can based on the basel accord.
But that does not imply more money being "printed".
The money being lent is real, and only about 1.7-1.8% of additional money is "printed" every year.

Private people who hand out loans cannot ask the central bank to simply give them 1.7-1.8% of the principal sum, that is the only difference between a bank loan and a loan between private persons.

if you don't have 100% colat to back it is being printed.

the 1~2% interest is being paid effectively by other loans from other banks for the velocity of money increasing or both.

the effective interest rate is the advertised plus the QE rate, which is you observed 1000%.

My original point was if I could just issue debt like a bank without collateral or print as much fiat as I wanted or both I can satisfy any debt.

Also a point you have not addressed is banks can just write off debts.

So they can not only issue a loan but choose not to collect.

That's not how it works.
The money being "printed" is the amount of interest that WILL be collected by the banks thanks to the loans they give out to people/companies.
Which is about 1.7-1.8% annually at the moment.

The collateral for all of this, is the collateral put up by the people/companies taking loans with the banks.
