someone gifts you 1 million tax free. how do you sustain your life with that?

>> No.16483332

with 1 million you can just buy a bunch of stocks and live off the dividends

If you put it all on stocks paying 4% dividends you'd get an income of 40,000 a year for zero hours of labour. Not really enough imo, maybe better to go with corporate bonds with slightly higher rates.

what are the risks associated with corporate bonds? and how do i buy them?

You buy them through a broker. The risks are ofc the company going bankrupt so you still have to do research. Also the company can always (usually) buy them
back from you cucking you out of a good yielder. With corp bonds you are better protected than with stock since in the event of bankruptcy bondholders get paid first. You still wont recover most of the investment though.

800K in dividend stocks, 100K to start my own business, 90K in Silver, 10K Gold. I can live comfortably off of the dividends alone so even if my business fails I'd be set for lfie

>> No.16483872

I'd be happy with 3-4% returns. 30-40k a year is more than the 28k I currently live on. 28k a year is pre tax, pre pension, pre student loan and I still save 4-5k a year of that so 40k would maintain my current standard of living and I'd actually add to it even if I didn't still work in some capacity.

All in SOXL the 3x semiconductor ETF. Think about it, this shit is 21st century techno-crack. CPUs, GPUs, microcontrollers, sdcards, RAM, SSDs, internet of things shit, chips for machine learning, smartphones, and on and on. Semiconducters are the one thing that no matter how many are made, how fast or efficient, the world has an insatiable appetite for more. There is no practical limit to the demand. SOXL is made up of nVidia, Intel, Qualcomm, Broadcom, and a bunch of other chipmproducing companies. This thing has 42x'd in the last few years and will probably 420x in the next 2 decades. All in, love frugally and be a billionaire when you are 45.
Thank me later.

The reason why this is a bad idea is because you slowly lose your investments and dividends to inflation. You would need to continually reinvest that 4% just to keep up
