I found a way to automate a significant portion of the workflow for my job, this is a job that multiple people in the company do. Because of this I can slack off at work and still get all the work done in a much shorter amount of time.

Should I tell someone about this? Or should I keep it to myself so I can continue to slack off? If I tell them then they will likely end up shifting us to other work to keep us productive and busy, but I also might get a pay raise. What should I do?

I did the same for my job and bragged about it like an idiot.
Not only did it cause every other employee to be fired, I had ended up taking every one of their workloads on top of what I already had.
I never got a pay raise and ended up being severely depressed.
After about a year, I quit on the spot and now the company has gone under.

If you prove yourself to be a good worker then they will pile on work for you to do with the same(or only slightly more) compensation as the lazy fucks, rising through the ranks requires politics and social skills even in supposedly meritocratic institutions like academia

LOL, no fucking way. At best, they'd give you pay raise and then sack you after 1-3 months because they wouldn't need you.
