I'm personally trying to get the hang of this stuff too. If you actually take a look into what R.N. Elliott, R. Wyckoff, and H.M. Gartley all did, they all seemed to notice these wave patterns, independently of each other. And these waves can actually be linked to Fibonacci, Elliott actually recognized that, himself, after he had developed his approach.

I'm interested to know if the any of the Japanese trading founders noticed waves too. Their trading culture seems to be more focused on candlestick patterns and Noise Reduction (that's basically what things like heikin-ashi, renko, and kagi price averaging is for).

If the Japanese noticed Fibonacci movements, in their own way, it would raise the interesting question of whether or not this all pareidolia or an actual part of how people behave in markets.

Do you understand why that doesn't make sense? Think about when these guys came to view waves, this was before online charting software.

And then people say well market-makers and other traders go after elliott wave/fib traders, but then do they create elliott waves/fibs by their very actions? Like it's just an inherit part of market movement,
