Right now the price is crabbing around 2.70-2.80~
The total in circulation right now is 350 million tokens. People say they expect the price to go up because of staking, taking some out of circulation and thus increasing the value, but my question is there is a total of 1 billion tokens that have been created, and as Sergey and team lend out more and more tokens to start the middle ware, wouldn't that cause inflation? No one can seriously expect anything above 10 dollars a token when there will eventually be 1 billion floating around, staked or not. All opinions welcomed.

Thanks,
174 linkies owner

For LINK to be 1000$ the mcap needs to be 1 trillion dollar. Considering the size of the derivatives market it's not impossible but yeah it sounds a bit delusional

Isn't the point of asking questions to gain a better understanding? You fucking retard. Besides the utility of powering nodes and staking I dont see how this token currently at 2.80 will go higher when there will eventually be atleast x2 roughly more in circulation in the coming years.

You're thinking too logically to be a link holder. This one isn't for you.

You care about trivial matters in contrast to the big picture.

Yes there could be inflation. Means nothing if you take the derivatives market into consideration.

how delusional can you be to bet on a token facilitating the entire derivatives market. I would sell call options on that 1 million times.

First of all you need to understand why staking and tokens out of the circulation would make link go up and in what scenario
After that you will know why your question is retarded

>> No.16208725

Basically Sergey and the team lend out more and more link once they personally vet a partnering project to ensure the tokens aren't just bought by some whale to speculate and aggressively dump on people, which would kill chainlink. The token distribution is the way it is because Sergey forsaw people trying to turn his tokens into a PnD scam.

>> No.16208730

The thing is, 1 billion tokens are already in circulation, cmc just fucks it up. It can only decrease from there.

That's right anon, chainlink is just a pump and dump json parser written by a philosophy major in a toilet in sibos 2017, which is why it shows up as a pump and dump scam when you try to google it. It is a solution seeking a problem for gravelcoin which was thought up in about 5 minutes and written out on the back of Sergey's personal philosophy diploma.
I just sold 100k because of your additional insights though. Thanks very much for looking out for everyone here and asking the big questions.

Based on my understanding, Staking rewards are only given based on the tokens work performed. meaning if people aren't using the contracts and paying the link fee to run them, staking becomes pointless. It all hinges on wide adoption.
>>16208733
tps becomes an issue in general-application derivatives, as in exchange traded ones. This is what gambling is for I guess, maybe I'll be buying options from TD Ameritrade using a Chainlink contract in 2025.

Now that there’s actually been so much grass roots hype, I wouldnt be surprised if the team releases more of the tokens into the market rather than the initial plan of just doling them out to validators

If I were in their position that’s what I would do at least

All of the tokenomics are already priced in. Staking, 650 million dev wallet, all of it. The only thing that isnt priced in is adoption, because its an unknown at this point.

Honestly it depends on the supply of coffee beans. The LINK token is inherently tied to the value of one cup of coffee, as the whitepaper clearly states. Depending on the global supply of coffee beans, the price of LINK could go up or down, which could have an effect on the price of the LINK that the nodes are staking in each contract. That's why Sergey has been dumping 700K to make sure that this price movement is priced in to the LINK tokenomics since the price will inevitably have to change from the changing supply/demand of coffee beans on a global scale. Did I answer your question?
