My dad passed away unexpectedly on Halloween and I’ve been pretty depressed ever since. I do I get out of this slump?

I lost my dad in 2008. It didn't sink in right away, it took months for it to really feel real. It depressed me for a while. No one can tell you how to cope with it, but I'd suggest not feeding your negative feelings with sad music and shit like that, and don't cope with drugs or alcohol (including weed). It's normal to feel bad fren.

Very sorry for your loss. Family is everything after personal freedom and self worth are attained. Your parents and other kin are usually the only ones who will fight for you in this world.

Friends, colleagues, neighbours etc they at best will fight with you and expect your contribution. Family is the only one who time and again will tell you to sit back or stay safe while they put themselves in harms way or go thru suffering for you. Very sorry you lost your father. Please honour him with your life moving forward. It will bring you peace contentment and then bliss.

I don't even talk to my dad. If he died idk how much I'd care. I don't hate him or anything.

I have a love hate relation with my father. Still love him to death and would let go of the hate/mistrust once he is gone for sure. I think great men are made like this to begin with. Complicated relationships are the base of complicated men

My aunt skipped her dad's funeral and I doubt she'll ever live it down. Although it was over a bunch of gay ass drama so your situation is probably different. My point is you're not depressed and you're not in a slump. Your dad literally just fucking died this week, just embrace your emotions and consider the fact that you'll be following him in short order.

The first family death hits hard because you have nothing to compare it with. It's completely normal to feel at your lowest for weeks, even months. However, as someone who has gone through an unexpected death in my immediate family I came out of it a stronger person. Depending on where you're at it might give you a new perspective on life, it did for me and it helped me to grow as a person. I'm past the point of being sad over the death. I'm comfortable just remembering the good times. Be a man and go to your father's funeral, you'll get through it.
