living in Calgary,Alberta,Canada and I recently lost my job. What's the best way to make a bit of extra money (outside of EI) until I can find some a stable job?

Medical lab rat? donating blood? literally anything if it pays good or isn't time-consuming

What are your skills? If you have none, doing medical tests is a possibility. Start looking at odd jobs and job boards. If you do have skills, market yourself. Website, social media, classified ads.

There are no easy substitutes for jobs in your position. Just keep applying and take anything you can get, even if you hate it and quit after 2 weeks, you'll have a full paycheck. Good luck man. I do not know how else to help to be honest. Custom tailor your cover letter to some degree as well. Start off with, I am interested in x company because, or similar, at least industry specific to the type of place.
