low interest rates anon. the interest rates are the lowest they have been worldwide in recorded history (lets say 4,000 years). These low rates are causing inflation in anything that is 'invest-able' with leverage eg. tertiary education, land, houses. The australian economy is fucked, there is no gdp per person growth or productivity / efficiency gains, the gdp growth you see is just the result of immigration (gdp up 1.5% but population grew by 1.5% to drive it.) The reason this is happening is central banks and open borders. Enjoy the gradual erosion of your living standards, you wont do anything because its being done quietly through inflation. you are a frog in a pot

To this day it boggles my mind why those idiots willing ho pay 500-800k for a house. I can build a nice house for 100-150k no matter where. I can build mediocre house for 50k.
