put whatever you want in the OP
I generally think the OP is dumb.
If you want an economic calendar, you type "economic calendar" into google and get a bunch of choices.
If you want an earnings calendar, you type "earnings calendar" into google and get a bunch of choices.
If you want an stock screener, you type "stock screener" into google and get a bunch of choices.

there is no reason to have a few of each listed in the OP, it just encourages all of our zoomer posters to be helpless and ask to be spoon-fed everything. We shouldn't encourage or enable people to live the kind of life where they never look from or process information on their own.
On the other hand, I just copy-paste whatever the OP is because if I don't, people will whine about it.

Past bubbles were excesses within one particular sector. Tech stocks in 1999/2000, sub-prime in 2007/2008.

My theory is that time has passed. We're now in the EVERYTHING bubble because equities are quite literally being propped up by central bank intervention and thus it will take state actors or state-sized actors to bring about a recession.

I keep thinking about 1973/1974. Stocks didn't just go down, the entire system had a crisis of confidence. Nobody had confidence in stocks, the dollar or the government. People piled into resources.

While this is correct, I did leave the phrase "across the board" open to interpretation. It applies to all stocks within a sector or to all sectors depending on what you're talking about.

>I keep thinking about 1973/1974. Stocks didn't just go down, the entire system had a crisis of confidence.
Guess what else also happened in the 1970s? In 1980 the dollar was half the value it was in 1970.

It's still a battle for control. You have to understand markets are narratives expressed as price actions on graphs. Psychology has a big thing to do with it.

This has already ran for longer than I ever thought it could. The market has been appreciating all of my working life.

Trump knows that his reelection chances have a lot to do with his ability to keep the stock market afloat, which means he may be willing to do a deal with China. A substantive deal with China and tariff removals would result in a such a huge market rally that it would be insane.

In the middle of a couple things going on here to collect the data, wish I had all the points in my notes pre wrote but there was an anon that listed the bad compared to the good, I think a thread ago, and the bad outweighed the good by as far as 6-8:1 ratio. I’m sure there was things missing but it was generally an unbiased psychology trend that was more negative than positive. Then we have EU tariffs that just happened and doesn’t seem to have affected anything, yet, but you’d think they’d cause atleast a little negative impact for short term. Then the Tesla thing just happened too

Running longer than a lot of people thought it would, brings some uncertainty with it. Doesn’t it? I will say people seem to be even 50/50 on this but once it starts dropping, I feel like the bulls won’t hold strong and the hands holding this will let go to drop because of everything going on and to do with this like long time ongoing run, TA, ect. Yeah like you say it’s still a battle for control but once the bears gain the edge I think it’ll overcome the bulls unless something very positive hits.

Trump making a deal with China could be the anomaly, on my theory, and change everything. It’d definitely change my outlook to more positive.

Given that 50% of the market is now passive investment in the form of ETFs or mutual funds in entire indexes, if everyone went for the exits at the same time there would be a massive stampede.

I think that moment in time is when stock market losses cease to be just financial news, and instead become headlining stories on evening news. That's when normies with their 401k will head for the exit, and that's when things will accelerate.

We were close back around the 24th of December last year. We were getting massive one day moves downwards, but the Fed still had tricks up their sleeve in the form of accommodation and the administration had tricks up their sleeve in providing optimism regarding trade talks.

Oh yeah that’s something I do think about but was shooting past on all this for some reason. Good point, the modern day feds do have some nice tricks that have worked before and got us here. I don’t remember it being as negative as it is as of now last year around 24th December?? but I need to do some actual fact based research and looking into it now you’ve brought this to my attention. My point though is this something the feds can save? What I do know, is they are well aware of what’s going on to be figuring out what they will do and have nice tricks already. But... Can they halt and save a massive dump though? What if we get smacked with a big negative here, on top the negative trend for our present situation? Or things just turn too fast red red red feds about to execute a trick headlines cliff drop and it’s all over

Weren't you observing markets then? From October 1st to December 24th, we dumped 20% on the major indexes.

It's not the feds that prop up the market, it's a combination of the Federal Reserve (US central bank), private banks and the US central government.

If you don't understand how the system operates you shouldn't be taking bets on stocks. The odds are stacked against market declines, 20% declines happen once every 5 years or so.

US is still performing well compared to most places on earth, even if the next GDP growth slows down to 1.5% it would still beat most of the developed world. The trade war definitely isn’t the only thing bringing us down.
The china trade war is the same thing as the iraq war. Iraq war was about energy independence from the middle east. We control the flow of oil and then ramp up our at gome production, we are the #1 oil producer now.
The china trade war is the same thing.

You realize you can’t say you are in a recession “technically” until it’s over, right?
You also should realize the metrics don’t even work for their intended purpose. Specifically how they have been able avoided a “recession”-by fudging shit.
Eg. Unemployment is low as fuck cause no one i working and people have given up finding jobs. You arent considered “unemployed” forever.
Look at old people, a record amount of them have jobs, when they didn’t usually work that much at that age in the past, these people can’t retire. The only thing keep shit up at all is people spending more than they can afford. And bank n friends are all freaking out cause they can’t make us spend more to cover their ass. Then what's the point in talking about it if we don't know when the fuck it's happening or how it works? Call it whatever you want. I saw people like you calling it a major recession and called for 2015 lows in 2018 when the markets went down, then we recovered and all talks about it stopped, now the markets are going down again and you're back to claiming it's a recession. Same shit goes for 2015, call for 2008 lows then we recovered and all the talks about it stopped.

Right here. Made my first "large" investment ever of about 2.5k in Pepsi today. I had been eyeing the stock for about a month then that fucking earnings report came out today (the same day TDA drops their fees) and jumps the price by 5 dollars. I would have bought sooner, but I didn't have the money.

I would hodl if I were you. I actually work for Coca-Cola and business in the soda industry always slows down in the fall and spikes in the summer. If you can wait until around July when people are buying soda for cookouts and other social gatherings you will make even more probably. Pepsi also isn't going anywhere because they make snacks too and their grip overseas is stronger in Asia than Coca-Cola from what I've read.
