cant you make way better gains in a short period of time by margin trading? Why even hodl? If a coin x20 in a year, you basically could have done the same by longing say at 50x leverage and getting a 80% increase in total (which shouldnt take years. Just open a position, close it, and repeat. Its not the same position that needs to perform that well).

Why havent I done it then? Its not fear. I just cant tell which way btc will go right now. Im a retard since the dump from 10k was predictable (believe me or not, I was gonna short but procrastinated due to work and schooling. Ik ik bullshit excuse whatever. I really was gonna short it tho).

My next move will be to long btc after a bit to make sure it wont dump more.

margin trading is more risky, as with anything more risky it is more profitable, but for me I like making sure gains over long periods of time, it is less stressful and it is enjoyable for me to watch an asset grow like from a seed to a plant

but I mean if it moons just enough, you wont really ever be in danger of liquidation.

Yes, Margin trading has much higher/greater upside.

I literally started with $400 in this account a year ago.

Bitcoin is quoted in dollars, all that matters is dollars, literally no attachment to crypto it's just a vehicle for me to make money.

are u shorting or longing it right now? What leverage you typically use?

>> No.15794757

Yes but also at increased risk. Most people blow up their accounts before they even come close to gains like >>15794605

I use deribit which only has cross margin, meaning your equity is available for use, and possibly liquidated.

I short and long on different futures contracts.

For example, everyone is bearish right now, and shorts are paying longs funding. So I'll long perpetual contract, wait for move, then lock in my gains by shorting an opposite but equal position on say Dec/March contracts.

You'll find that most of the successful traders are entering into positions like this or using options to hedge.

everyone was bearish at 10k yet it dumped
sometimes doing the opposite works, sometimes it doesn't

Most people blow their accounts because they are using high leverage and not taking advantage of limit orders. They almost always use market orders to enter positions.

Don't get me wrong, I use market orders too to play breakouts. I've paid over 5 BTC in the last year.

in essence, yes it's gambling. But if you hedge correctly, you can mitigate your risks.

I don't think you can really use trader sentiment as an indicator. Cause traders are more short term focussed and everyone's constantly expressing opinions based on their own strategies. It's not very usefull to counter that. Though that being said, I went long today at 8200 and everyone called me mad for it.

i make money way faster with margin trading. prime-xbt.io lets me trade crypto, forex, and stock indexes using BTC as collateral so i just keep accumulating more bitcoin. definitely gotta be way more patient with trades cause the risk is a lot higher. wait for the perfect moment and just increase your stop as you ride thew wave. if you can setup a trade and throw a stop in once the profit covers the fees, you can't lose money.

Didn't 1broker also do the same and get rolled up by the SEC?

doesn't even matter which direction is moves. you don't need a moon. crashes are good too. the problem with margin trading is when you're liquidated you lose the whole trade....not just down a few percent. if you set a stop, those few percent move much faster. your gain potential is increased, but so is your loss potential.

>> No.15795924

>>15795749
well obv I didnt just mean longing. Im just saying if it moon/dumps enough (depending if you pong or short), you wont be in danger of liquidation. Thats also why you have to be careful with the margins you choose. Higher = easier to liquidate

I don't even partake of the caffeinated jew. Coffee is the poison of the soul and so are most drugs besides psychedelics.

I mostly work out and fill out job applications. No routine to speak of other than bowel movements.
