Accounting is worse than people who don't know accounting make it out to be.

Also, for accounting to be worth anything at all, you have to double major in it or get a masters so you can sit for your CPA.

Even then, there is a risk of accounting jobs being automated (short of auditing) and there being less of them.

Like any "business" major job, it doesn't require any real knowledge, so people mostly hire their friends and relatives.

Really don't recommend.

Choose a STEM, law or finance degree that you genuinely find interesting. That will almost always lead to better long term results than picking something because it’s the “best degree”. At least if you’re not a brainlet. Choosing a degree based on average salaries/ levels of succes is for average people.

If you’re high IQ, work hard and good at at something (e.g. physics) then it’s almost irrelevant what the average salary of a physics major is.

Any major couples with a CS degree. CS is merely a tool kit. Combine it with economics and you can get a job at a quantitative finance firm. Combine it with physics and you can work for a national lab doing modeling work. Combine it with bio and you can work on genome sequencing.

CS is leverage. Think about it like this, the best lumberjack in the world can probably only cut trees down 3-5x quicker than an average lumberjack. However, a highly proficient programmer can create software of use while an average programmer will never create anything worth using.
