Someone making $70k in NJ probably takes home ~$3500 a month. There is no way it's feasible for them to be doing that by themselves with all of the other bills that come with owning a home and raising a family. Medical bills, 401k, car, utilities, property tax. It's not possible to have a stay at home wife on $70k in New Jersey.

People that complain about parents helping either had a shit relationship with theirs or are just seething. Yes New Jersey has high taxes, on high earners. This family would have an effective income tax of under 17%. Their bigger issue is 2.24% property tax in NJ for about $9k. Combined income and property taxes of $20k
