Imagine my sorrow in saying so to you fren, but no such agreement was made. You just decided to "take something" from me "in exchange," though no services were requested, and no services were rendered. Just a dead cat bounce.

Miscommunications are a very terrible thing, so I will forgive you, but I do advise. Even if you are a demon of the market, fortune and happiness can be very sticky things. I do not recommend taking either from someone experiencing a run of misfortune or unhappiness, or someone whose peculiar sort of happiness is too different from your own.

Requires seriousness and confidence when dealing with clients and superiors. Fortunately I'm efficient so I'm not usually bothered. On top of that, I do a business thing on the side, which also requires confidence and some sales knowledge. I like where I'm at. It's like I have 3 jobs! And I still have time to lift during lunch! I feel so productive during the day it's really nice. But then I go home and research some more business opportunities or companies to trade, play my guitar or keyboard, or just straight up turn on jewflix and drink scotch until I pass out because I have no social life. New York Fed plans repo operation for third straight day

>"The New York Fed said it would conduct an overnight repurchasing operation for the third time this week at 8:15 a.m. Eastern on Thursday. The U.S. central bank will offer up to $75 billion of repos, temporarily buying securities from Wall Street dealers to inject liquidity into the system. Earlier this week, a surge in the repurchasing rate, used by hedge funds and banks to fund their trading operations, pushed the fed funds rate above its target range. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said in a Wednesday press conference that the central bank would stand ready to use its current tools to address pressures in money markets."

a recession means the economy is slowing down
the current repo situation is purely financial, has to do a shortage of cash at a limited number of financial institutions.

so the only way it effects the economy is if banks start failing, which they won't because of the repo operation. (the only effect on the economy will hopefully be some idiot bankers who didn't keep enough liquidity losing their jobs)

many analysts (including myself) see the possibility for a soft landing, maybe not a landing at all but a very steady and gradual economic/market situation over the next decade.
What this means is, don't expect some massive implosion where everything goes to shit, but also don't expect significant historical gains. We might only beat inflation out by a couple % per year unless some new technology really ignites a fire under the economy (gene stuff, battery/energy tech, high temp superconductor, etc.).

Powell is actually correct that we're mid cycle, and there are enough tools at the disposal of the US to prevent our own economy from a meltdown. But there also isn't that much upside room in equities for the next decade or so. Earnings can't suddenly go up massively.
Besides that, there is international risk too. China and/or EU could really see an economic and financial slowdown.

basically sit tight. Hold plenty of cash, and buy good stocks with growth prospects and good yield. There is never a bad time to hold some cash, there is never a bad time to hold high quality equities.

I know the housing market seems more secure but I read this and the parallels are too creepy. It seems like all indicators are saying recession. Dont read marketwatch that much, dont know how much they always predict recession.

>> No.15638159

>>15638057
again we need to separate the idea of a recession from a stock market correction.
a recession means that actual economic output goes down. Stocks probably will, but they might not.
a stock market decline just means that the value of equities (in USD) goes down. The economy (GDP, jobs) doesn't necessarily go down.

In 2008 we had both situations happen at the same time, violently.
there was a clear risk in 2007 that isn't present right now in 2019. There isn't a bear stearns or Lehman out there now, loaded to the gills with massively leveraged mortgage obligations to set the whole thing off.
The article that you posted sounds nice, and I'm sure they're getting clicks and shares, but it isn't any real economic or market analysis, it's just "hey look, this paragraph has some coincidences ! wow!"
who cares if the months line up? if people were buying homes with the kinds of loans they were getting in 06-07 and those loans were being bundled and traded, I'd be worried no matter what month it was...

basically if you were a journalist, you put food on the table by writing those kinds of articles that can get the most clicks, saying that the sky is falling because we had an august correction and then an early September rally into a rate cut, and *spooky voice* the same thing happened in 2007

but people who are in actionable positions in the stock market and the economy are going to look at real numbers, real information, not articles like that one.

they probably raised rates too quickly in 2018.
we have three months left in 2019. If they need to cut again by another 0.25%, I think ti's fine. But I agree that a more gradual change is better

don't be too spooked by news and change. Things in the economy and markets are changing all the time. And any time things change, there will be articles out there about how it will kick off the golden bull or start the most massive stock market crash in history. And then what happens int he real world? companies, jobs, stocks all keep trucking along, doing a few % a year.

don't fall for the journalistic tricks. they do a good job writing articles to grab the attention of people who only have a passing interest in the markets. If you're really in this game every day, you won't even click on articles like that, because you can guess what they'll say just from the headline. they're fluff pieces. look for real numbers, real information on the state of the economy, not storytelling

Lol, journalist are putting out some shit how T is gonna offload/sell Direct TV to dish. This will never happen. Why? Cause the Govt would never allow a single company to dominate the Sat TV market.

Which is what would happen if said merger was to take place.

So fuck you journalist pussy with your fake rumors and shit.

More likely thing - T sells Direct to 3rd party or spins it off as separate company (Which I'm all for cause I'd get Free Direct shares this way) or tells the bankers/activists to go to hell and they keep Direct.

One thing that will never happen - Selling of Time Warner or any part of it. It's the Crown Jewel so to speak.

The article isn't wrong, although the basis for a $500 milly loss over the next two years is questionable and does not take in to account revenue growth. Canopy has been spending in service of expansion to secure market share for the future.

Now that said, I'm still bearish on Canadian dude weed, including Canopy, and would also like cheapies. This is why I'm only trading US companies in the sector at this time. Better near term catalysts, lower valuations relative to their earnings currently and future potential. Within a year or so I expect at least a couple of the big state legal US companies to be posting revenue in excess of the Canadian ones, and that's without federal legalization or cannabis descheduling.

To some people 40,000 - 80,000 may not be a large sum and if your pulling down 100k a year I'd concede the point. But to get a nice fat lump sum in one go without having to spend a dime of it to pay shit off? That's another thing.

Sure your pulling down 100k. But what percentage gets sucked out for taxes/bills/etc? So true your making a shit pot but at the end your left with what only 50k? (if that depending on location/how bad the debt is/other shit).

So if your a poor fuck hell 50k would be a godsend as would 40 or 80k.

This is a fucking joke, no bullshit either. Some asshole in this state makes 200k a year. This is a low col state to boot. Hell I'm doing good making only 27k a year. So unless this asshole has bills out the ass or a really bad gambling problem he's rolling in the cash up to his eyeballs.

It was my first investment and that's a big money here

I was going to hold it for a decade
I learned I bought at the peak and should read articles first because there will be a recession in few years

Yeah I've learned that trading the market is very different to just looking at the numbers but not experiencing it.

Eg.
In a fit of rage made several options calls and puts.
1 call went up and made about $100 (20%ish gain)
2 puts...went up. Could cut my losses (idk how much as it expires friday which means its not yet solidified) but am trying to train myself not to jump out on the slightest gain compared to getting stuck bagholding. Either a big gain or bag hold strategy, not this low gain or bag hold strategy. Would prefer a big gain or low loss strategy tho.

Would you have sold if it were only one share? Would you have held, or maybe bought another when it went down? Would you have sold when it went up, or would you have held?

Welp that's what I get for buying stocks without my DD. ROKU is sorta terrible, multiple weeks with 20+% losses. I was foolish, ah well live and learn.

It was all-in and all-out

>> No.15641525

I would regard “all-in” as a poor approach, unless you’re sure you won’t need it and aren’t going to panic and sell it when it drops.

But I might be the worst investor here, so who knows, you’ll find your way.
