Is Mid-grade gas a scam? I get why premium is available but ive never seen a car that needs mid-grade fuel. The 9/10ths of a penny price scam has Jew written all over it too. What's the secret?

Absolute nonsense. There's no reason why it would cause more damage simply because of size. On the contrary, a larger engine will have a larger, heavier rotating assembly which would withstand engine knock better than a smaller one.

If you're really intent on keeping your car running longer, then change your engine oil every 5 to 7 thousand miles and your transmission filter and trans/diff oil every 60,000 miles.

If you're really worried about carbon build up, get your fuel injectors cleaned at the 60,000 miles mark.
