The most promising thing about Fantom is simply how ambitious it is.
The other smart contract foundations failed because all of them are just centralized ETH rip-offs, often without even being compatible with ETH dapp code.
Fantom is completely new from the base down (not counting IOTA which will never succeed because the delusional no-fees policy), has tons of extra things, and allows easy porting of ETH dapps.
It's revolutionary and if it succeeds (and with how many new ideas it has, it might), it will actually wipe the floor with Ethereum.
