Cards aren't tradeable until the balancing phase for genesis ends October 10th. Once the balancing phase ends they are locking in all the stats and text and will no longer be able to change genesis cards. They plan to do this with all future sets as well, so that you can't buy a card and then have it be nerfed so you get screwed.

One of the top 3 players from last weekend's constructed tournament actually didn't use any paid cards with a deck entirely built out of the free "core" set you get from just playing.

Once you can buy singles I think most of the big meta decks besides that free one are running 30-50% genesis cards and thumb in the wind I'd say you could build for under $100 unless it's just being obnoxious with like 10 legendaries.

As for just buying packs now it's hard to say, genesis set is pretty big, 300+ cards and you probably want 2 of a few of the commons, I'd say you'd be able to build the deck I ran last weekend with 150ish packs and I easily placed top 5. A nature deck you'd need much much less, a death deck you might need more.

I was top 5 two of the three constructed weekend tournaments so far. Week 1 it was all nature aggro, week 2 I couldn't play as much but it seemed like a little more control creeping in and one single guy who one with a weird weapon war deck.

This last weekend had the most diverse meta so far, control magic was the most popular deck (and could be built with no paid cards at all) with a light weenies deck and deception deck playing a kind of rock paper scissors.

There is a good leddit writeup on last week's meta here by the person who ended up with the highest rating at the end of the tourney.

The cards are secured on ETH but the game doesn't require transactions to play so congestion is only a problem when you buy packs or trade.

Kind of, I'm not aware of any actual mill decks but there are some of the pieces in place, deception can take cards directly from their opponents deck, there are some neutral cards that draw cards for both players and ways to put more cards back into your deck. And if you run out of cards your mana locks return and you lose when you run out of mana.

Void mechanics are cool, send creatures to your void and pull them back out for cheap.

ETH prizes in the form of pack rewards for weekend tournaments, and they just implemented a raffle system where you get 100 tickets per win in any mode that are ETH tokens and can be sold. The prizes for the raffle look pretty good with the OP's picture being the top prize, so they might sell alright.

You can compete for free and if you do buy packs any cards you get can be resold later to recoup upfront capital.

I believe they've update the map 2 or three times since then and have been releasing optimization patches regularly. Chris Clay said he still had some minor changes he really wanted to make to it during his stream. Pic related.

PC is very playable and I rarely have bugs, maybe every hundred games or so I'll get a bad desync but that's better than it was even 2 weeks ago.

I hear Mac is worse but I can't verify. I also hear some laptop integrated graphics cards are worse but my surface pro 3 handled it with no problem so ymmv.

Almost 1000 people participated in the ranked constructed tournament last weekend, up from 600 previous weekend so people are playing. I rarely have trouble getting a game but I also play during American evenings so I can vouch for American work days.

Did you buy packs or get some from playing games? The nature starter deck is pretty decent. You don't own the starter deck cards though and need to play with them to get more core packs before you can make a decent deck of your own.

If you bought packs you need to link your address to Apollo for them to show up. I'll see if I can dig up a newbie guide, I know there are a few floating around.
