i agree, but you are assuming that there is no friction within the supply chain
if there isnt, then yes decreased supply and skyrocketing demand could be good news
but there are about a dozen different governments that could FUDD you out of any gains

>also, there is a chance that companies will start moving the supply chain back in the states.
it will take a few years (at VERY LEAST) for this to happen, and the companies would be losing money the entire time that they are relocating if that happens

if you see a major shift from east asian manufacturing of semi's going to america, there would be a massive dip during the process

Yes, market share is one of them and in fact AMD has already captured market share in Asia with the new Ryzen. AMD's products have been increasingly improving and the competition has been going sideways. Intel is especially vulnerable. The server products Rome will be launching soon and the sales from that will be very good. Then there's the PS5 and Xbone2 next year. AMD has a partnership with Samsung. They have higher tier 7nm GPU's coming later this year or early next year. The product roadmap looks great.

I agree with your explanation of the globalized trading within semi industry. However, I don't agree with your assumption that companies losing money to invest into American supply chain would necessarily cause a dip. If it is clearly communicated, then the traders will simply speculate the future gains with the geopolitical stability. perhaps, idk the major metrology companies though, im familiar with a couple NA ones and a french one based on lab equipment, but other than that idk

>>15156056
perhaps, but from an industrial standpoint it cost resources to stop a continuous manufacturing process, and it costs assloads more money to have a factory that is idling
ad some expenses for building new factory, new equipment (probably just as cheap as moving existing equipment) and the human cost of replacing or doubling workforce (although there would probably be talent gained and lost from any such moves too)

then again stocks are not just about current worth, so the future upside might float a stock during that time, but the company itself would be hurting as it occurred, regardless of how shareholders feel about it

We have a nice support level established here. Panic phase is over, theres no reason for us to keep selling, and there's tons of funds that are going to be forced to buy in the low liquidity situation combined with short sellers that are going to be forced into covering because of margin deficiency syndrome (MDS) and you've got a recipe for new all time highs some time next week.

Here is my tip for you. Just go back through the archives and read all the T babies posts.
Then you will fall into a deep sleep and awake as a godly investor. You need to open your mind to the t babies brainwaves. Frequency is somewhere around 2 kHz

Now if you've got some other non stock market things going on, we can talk through that too
You gotta get your mind right first, then the money thing will happen after
Or you go the other way, towards madness. Some people can unlock nutty gains the insane way too

I mean in general which would be the input function in fft or laplace.
Let's say you have 1 minute candles: The candle of 14:10 (to 14:11) says O=1, H=1.4, L=0.9, C=1.2 vol =1000, then there were no trades(or you have no data) in the time from 14:11 to 14:12 which means the 1 minute of said time is empty(no trades in there). What is o,h,l,c,v of that candle? V is 0 and the rest of undefined. This would fuck up your fft. What do?
Just leave it out? Then your xAxis is not well defined. This is like leaving out a number while counting. 1,2,3,4,6. The successor of 4 is 6 but the distance between 4 and 6 is 2 while it's 1 for all the others. That's why I'm saying that the stock movements might be easier to be modeled as a function of volume traded rather than time elapsed.

just park 90% of portfolio in index funds, then play around with a % or two of your portfolio on speculative stuff to get used to how the market works

even if you make a terrible decision with your tiny speculative plays, you will avoid exploding your portfolio

also the best (and easiest) strategy is to just buy and hold, beats every day or swing trader the longer the investment timeline is

I dunno. I hate giving trading advice. Here, I'll phrase it like so; I think that MO is probably in buy position right now and I may do so if it looks good tomorrow.

TA wise there are two channels of interest to me with MO. A large falling channel on longer time scale (purple lines) and the a tighter short term channel (yellow lines). Long rising bottom yellow line is possible long term trend, however, this line is only supported by two points of data and should not be relied upon for anything.

This is what I think will eventually happen. Now I may be wrong or I may get it half right but oh well least I'm making a guess.

Streaming - Netflix, DIS, T,Comcast. These will be your big Fish in the streaming wars. Content is king. They have it. They have the means to make more of it easy. (Film/TV Studios).

Middle Fish - Apple/Amazon - They lack content. They lack the means to make more of it (no film studios, no tv studios, no people who have that background)

Low Fish - LGF,CBS,etc. Late to the party means they're gonna be behind the early winners. Sure CBS (and Viacom) have content but so far the major property (Star Trek) has been ran into the shat.

Disc (media) will be phased out. No need for it. Pushes people to use the services. Only thing on disc soon will be old stuff that would cost a fuckton to convert to digital copy. But soon if push came to shove even the old shit will get loaded to the streaming services.

Music will also be streamed the same way. If Films do this right the music industry will follow. No more CD's. Which is impressive. CD's have been around since the 80's.

Roku - will end up being a winner or is in the right place for it. Make universal box to interface with all services + stream local content (plex, etc).

I need to be accomplishing things right now though, next semester is right around the corner, and I need to be unJUSTing my life and getting on a better path.

I have also had a few false Awakening dreams where I believe I have woken up only to find out that I am dreaming once I wake up again and this will go on so many times when I wake up for real I question it.

I have the feeling that my body desperately wants to die. When I go to bed it feel like death and when I wake up I'm only halfway conscious and roll around in my bed for an hour until I remember who I am and that I should get up.
I tried melatonin. Nothing.
Uridine. Nothing
Other random shit. Nothing.
The first night after fapping is especially bad but nofap does not really help either. Weird shit. I used to have lucid dreams quite often when I was younger. Everything gone.

And to top it off, I only dream in third person view, so I can literally watch myself walking around in full detail. Auditory hallucinations occur sometimes too.

I own AMD because I believe the share price will go up for a few months or years because AMD always does when it's managing to keep up with Intel, but AMD actually keeping that lead and steadily making money I'll believe when I see it. Like when they released Athlon 64 in 2003, share price $5. Intel couldn't compete and AMD went up to over $40 in 2006. In 2006 Intel released Core 2 which smashed Athlon 64 and in 2009 AMD goes below $3.

This present situation is like an echo. Intel had prescott (pentium 4), athlon 64 kicked its arse in performace/watt so AMD gained a bit of server share. Just like they will now with TSMC's 7nm process. I am ready to short AMD the second Intel release something better.

>I am ready to short AMD the second Intel release something better.

So not before 2021 minimum. 10nm chips that aren't mobile come out at the the end of 2020 at best, and 10nm chips are a total shitshow where the IPC gain is eaten up by lower frequencies due to a new node, as seen on said mobile chips. AMD isn't sleeping, either, with Zen 3 design being finished and Zen 4 being on track.

Either Intel figures out 3D stacking first or TSMC eventually reaches the physical limit of quantum mechanics around 3nm (although they're researching 2nm right now), but either way, that's going to take a few years minimum to reach that point.

If Lisa Su leaves the company, that's another way how AMD can go down the shitter again, but it seems like she's having too much fun right now beating the everliving shit out of Intel.

Look at long term price movement. Historical stuff.
Read some for-fun books like business adventures. Its informative and can help you get the flavor of some historical market periods.
Don't worry yet about getting "a mindset to really start making a killing". Just focus on getting your bearings, managing risk, and having fun.
Managing risk doesn't mean reducing your risk to nothing. It means deciding what your whole-portfolio and single position risk tolerances are, and then taking the necessary steps to enact it

Finding a way to increase your capital is what you should do first. After that just pick some stocks and watch them for a while. It's easier if you already have some companies you believe in. Buy the dips.

>Man, how do you guys do it?
adderal and weed daily, LSD when i need to rethink my long holdings (or once quarterly as i review my entire portfolio top to bottom)
>There's so much to take into consideration and by the time I feel like I understand something, everything changes and my portfolio value never really changes before closing. What kind of mindset do you need to really start making a killing?
calm, patient, and precise
>How do you know when to hold or when to buy/sell?
when you have made money, and feel like the stock has no more upside to go
>I get the market can be volatile and hard to predict, but it can also be so subtle that by the time you realize there's a profit to turn or so, the opportunity has already passed you by. It's hard to concentrate when there's so much to take into consideration. What can a guy like me do to make a play and stick with it without fear or repercussions?
take your time, do it slow, and start small
pay close attention to just a couple stocks, try writing down what you think will happen to them in a day, in a week, in a month, in a year
do this again the next day, and keep on doing it

youll be able to see where you went wrong, and where you went right

also the easiest way to win is just buy a good stock, then forget that you have it for a few decades, because it is impossible to time the market unless you have a magical crystal ball (and if you do have a crystal ball, just cheat and win the lottery, its so much easier)

Don’t get overly emotional on any win or loss in trading. Detached and neutral is the way to do this. Play only liquid options, indexes, AAPL, AMD, MSFT and the like.
Look at the DIS chart going into earnings. Can you tell my why it dipped? Can you identify why SPY went up today?

Right?

They already reported all the bad news that they could
If they had any more bad news, they would have reported it in February
Now that doesn't mean it's gonna be all squeeze-bottles and Kraft singles for every earning report from now on. But certainly they won't have the circus of bad news that they displayed earlier this year
I'm in Chicago, I wonder if they will let me drive up and sit in on the earnings call live (serving me processed food products while I listen)?
If I had a few more shares I'm sure I could negotiate something...

Big indices, or at least its major components (msft, aapl, amzn, spy, qqq, etc). Writing put credit spreads is usually better since more puts expire worthless than calls do, statistically. Don‘t write em all at once tho or you‘ll lose your shit.
