Another news from Chinese state media yesterday: Chinese companies have already purchased American agricultural products like onions beans, however some deals haven't been reached yet because price of them were not competitive
>From July 19 China have continued asking about price of American agricultural products, and by August 2 night China have already purchased 130k ton onions bean, 120kt sorghum, 75kt hay, 60kt wheat, 40kt pork and pork products, 25kt cotton, 5.7kt dairy products, 4.5kt processed fruit, 0.4kt fresh fruit.
However, China still haven't buy any ethanol, corn, basedbean oil, red wine, beer from America, because their price for now are not competitive. For example, for ethanol, currently Chinese government tariff against them is 70% as part of the response against earlier 232 and 301 review against China. According to American exporter reported price, even after waived the 25% tariff caused by 301 review, after adding other tariffs onto the American reported price, the price are still 30%+ more expensive than the current market price in China and as such it is not commercially possible to buy them.
China said that those American product cannot enter Chinese market was still because of trade war, which inflated the price of them in the Chinese market, and hope America do more things that can benefit each other mutually

when price of the shares are only really relevant when looking to buy, days like this are a welcoming sight.

if you're getting REKT right now and aren't invested long term, you did this to yourself. the signs of a coming correction have been around. you don't go through the longest bullrun in history without a few healthy corrections. also an upcoming bear market is just around the corner. not sure we'll hit recession levels but a healthy dropback with S&P500 p/e hopefully reaching or dropping past 15 would be great for new investment opportunities.

And if anyone is wondering, i've "lost" about $14K over the past few days in unrealized losses. I'm still up $60K+ on the year tho.

I use tools that do the work for me, and charge way more than I deserve. Money is a great motivator. Machine learning work also involves a lot of waiting (training models, deploying code, etc.), so I line up my gigs while I'm at the office.

Full stack with JHipster. It's a command-line tool that writes a CRUD app for you. Front end in Angular, back end in Spring.

All you need to do is define a data model (which you can typically do in a night), and change the user-facing parts of the website to look however your client wants. This gets much easier if you have your client write copy, and give them a selection of open-source CSS themes to choose from.

I usually spend about twice as long in client meetings as I do actually programming.

Sell your skills to boomers who can't into technology. They won't have a use case in mind, so suggest one. The easier to set up, the better.

My last client was a middle-aged dentist who needed a website. All he wanted was a way for customers to make and edit appointments. The app had 2 entities (user & appointment). All I had to do after generating it was (1) change the user permissions so a user could only create or edit appointments for himself, (2) create a UI that looked like a calendar, and (3) create pages that displayed appointments for a given day, week, and month.

Took about 20 hours, 2 a night for 2 weeks. At $5000, that's $250 per hour. And since there's hardly any features, I know he'll call me later and ask for more.

Pro tip: charge by feature, rather than by hour.

depends on what you want to buy with each account. like with a vanguard account, you get no broker fees when buying any vanguard etfs, same with other brokerages. id say its unlikely to have much of an effect on a normal investment strategy to have one with one brokerage and one with another
