To keep this thread /biz/. Ket's discuss ways of saving money. Food can be a major monthly expense if you eat out all the time. Personally, I'm lazy so I just cook eggs and put it on toasted bread or an english muffin. It's a great source of protein and having real food in your body to metabolize will reduce your hunger, making not getting fat easier. Quick and easy.

Owning a vehicle shackles you to the life of a wageslave. Let's assume you pay $15k for a modest used Japanese grocery-getter. $15k invested over a 5 year period in the S&P500 will grow to ~$22k. Now, consider that you're also paying interest on that $15k, so you're actually losing even more money. Now, add in insurance, gas, and maintenaince (which may vary from person to person). You're really losing out on way more money. I put in $2000/year for insurance (assuming $100/month), gas, and maintenaince for 5 years. You would have $34k after 5 years invested, but instead you're actually negative in money instead so about ~$50k opportunity cost of owning a car for a 5 year loan.

Car may be worth it depending on how much you value the ability to go to places when you want to go to them
