So "selling the news" meant putting sell orders at $3.50 - $5.
They got filled.
Then the market wanted more LINK, big wallets wanted more USD / BTC and therefore more LINK got dumped at these prices. It didn't moon higher because enough people were comfortable selling this "low".

It claims that a speculative asset's price will rise with news and bleed after them. Holding when there are no rumors is a risk. Selling at the height at the news mania is profit.

The reason for the bleedout is that LINK is a speculative asset that had a bunch of good news.
