It's a two part thing.
1. In 2017, bitcoin OG-s knew that bankers have taken over BTC and they hated what had become of it. So when iFinex pumped the entire market with Tether, their money went into alts. Then alt-buying retards saw that BTC was not the last train and started to buy literally everything.
People like Roger Ver were emotionally selling BTC for alts, which ended up being a bad trading decision.

2. In 2019 OG-s have less BTC, and despite the fact that they still have enough to start an alt season, they don't want to anymore. Everyone knows that the market is being fake pumped so money is being consolidated in BTC.

posted this yesterday but the market has a cruel way of NEVER doing what it used to. This is the first time that bitcoin has really started to take back it's dominance with a vengeance, look at the market cap dominance (pic related from a thread i made yesterday). If Dominance goes to 70 (which is a sure thing), that means alts go from 35->30 which is a 15% drop in sats. If it goes to 80, that means it goes from 35->20 which is a 43% drop in sats. Anyway that's why they keep falling, because the market always does something different, and looking at the dominance chart, it's clear that BTC is going back to at least 70, probably 80% dominance.

Serious talk Anon? Alts don't recover simply because they're not new anymore. Look at previous years' top 50. They're recycled out year after year because something special happens when BTC rises, this is what happens, screenshot it

I think it is going to be another -40% in sats before we get sideways dominance, and when that happens, there will be good alts to catch (look at the flat regions), but I think this is the fabled purge that will decimate the majority of alts. What I am really worried about is if/when a BTC correction happens. alts will also lower in USD and will be devastating. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if alts bleed upwards just because that hasn't happened before and lord knows the market wants to fuck with people, and people who sold alts low need to be punished in the cruellest way possible (not that they deserve it, but cause the market is a horribly evil organism).

basically, flat is actually the best, because it is stable and while it isn't as easy to make more sats, it's more sustainable and it's where good projects can thrive while bad projects can die (which is really what we want), as opposed to dominance going way down, where complete dog shit thrives and sets us all up for what is happening right now, so it's not over for alts, but definitely for the time being
