14171275 No.14171275 [Reply] [Original]

I’m going to explain this to you in a hypothetical. Let’s just say you bought a stack of 50k at 20 cents, which frankly many biz bros have or at least half that.

You paid $10k. That is peanuts, really. Plenty of middle class people have $10k in a single investment such as a stock.

Now your $10k is worth almost $90k.

You know who has $90k in a single investment? Millionaires and degenerate gamblers who are about to lose everything.

Now let’s consider this. This isn’t Apple or Microsoft or fucking McDonalds. NOBODY KNOWS what ChainLink is. Most people still don’t understand there is more than one cryptocurrency at all (Bitcoin). This is so far under the fucking radar, you are so fucking early, and you have a millionaire sized investment in an asset that is going to explode.

You have 50K LINK? I guaran-fucking-tee you will be a multi millionaire within the next 3 years.

Everyone here is early. Everyone here has way more LINK than any middle class jabroni can already even afford. Everyone here has the opportunity to escape wage cuckery forever simply by holding this ridiculous meme token. Just fucking WAIT until shit actually takes off. You haven’t seen anything yet.

seriously entry level work is 50k and they pay your living expenses. The common wisdom is to set up an LLC that pays you wages since you'll be doing your work in international waters. More anons should get into this line of work, ESPECIALLY if you have an engineering bent. Tier 2 engineers make 200k+ per year. Chefs make 100k+. Wait/houskeeping 90k+. and all of that without living expenses, AND with minimal tax if you incorporate.

you are so fucking delusional. Google or FB will NEVER use Chainlink. IF there is ever any demand for trusted oracles for smart contracts, Google will simply create their own service.

IF there is ever any demand for a decentralized oracle network, they will create the network themselves, and completely crush Link.

Do you know why they're not doing it already? Because there's 0 demand. As soon as there is any hint that there is demand, all the big companies will make their own and completely kill chainlink. Then sergey will market sell his 650mil tokens and live the good life.

You need to understand that the only open source technology that big companies use are 20+ years old and have millions of lines of code. It's not some shit 2 guys can do in 2 years (Link). It's tech that 1000+ guys do in 20+ years.

1) They shilled link to all the developers who work on Google cloud
2) They collaborated with chainlink to make this and will continue to collaborate with chainlink on further projects. There was an article quoting Sergey saying this.
3) There is no reason for them to suggest chainlink for GCP related smart contracts unless this would be their preferred future oracle source. This is because google is not in the business of making smart contracts. But it is very reasonable for them to one day be a node operator and serve up their gcp data.

Insider here. This is based on leaked information from a recent presentation that Sergey gave. He proposed to Microsoft that the main focus of Chainlink should be to provide United States crime statistics to corporations. When asked by Microsoft representatives what he meant by this, he simply winked at them and said, "You know exactly what I mean by this."
Reportedly, Microsoft is pulling out of the partnership. One spokesperson for Microsoft refused to comment on the situation when reached out to. When the Chainlink team was asked for a comment, they replied to the email with a picture of a swastika.
Needless to say, it doesn't look too good for linkies right about now.

>DO I HAVE ENOUGH LINKS TO MAKE IT

Guys, to get a perspective on just small this community is and how early you all are, check out the amount of holders of Chainlink.

https://ethplorer.io/address/0x514910771af9ca656af840dff83e8264ecf986ca#tab=tab-holders&pageSize=100

The 1000th largest wallet holder is 40K. And I can guarantee you a bunch most people have multiple wallets to split up their link, so you know 1000th largest holder of chainlink has much less than 40K. So think about that for a second, as well as the fact that there are currently 31K wallets holding Chainlink in the ENTIRE WORLD.

So stop worrying about whether you have enough and be satisfied with what you have. And if you really want to make a change, you'll put the time in to learn to run your node.

I'm actually more qualified to talk about this than most anons.I'm employed with a cyber-techno machinations company, I do a lot of security analyst programming type work. Open source, decentralized, APIs, partnerships, you name it. We'd be one of the first companies in line for something like Chainlink, if the decentralized smart contract space had more value over traditional data exchanges. There's a catch though, an underlying flaw more deeply embedded in the bedrock of LINK than the very code itself. The flaw is with the concept, and it's this: Companies won't actually go through the hassle of trusting their data API's through crypto.

Now I can already hear your keyboards going frantic, but hear me out. /biz/ hates banks, and traditional data providers. But actual companies, businesses, and investors do not. There's an old saying you might have heard of: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!". The idea that any of our bosses would give us the go ahead if we approached them to put our companies valuable data in a smart contract on a cryptocurrency called Chainlink, that they've never heard of, we'd be laughed out at best and fired on the spot at worst. We already have API data buyers and providers we trust.

'But Chainlink is trustless!' I hear you cry, but is that really a good thing? Just listen to the sound of it. Businesses don't want to spend millions of dollars on something that is trustLESS, they want something trustFUL. 'But the reputation system!', doesn't that defeat the whole point of your coin? If companies only trust nodes with high reputation, what's the difference between trusting banks and data providers that already have reputation, but in real life not on a computer screen.

The fact is, LINK is going to share the same fate as ETH will. A lot of 'real world application' hype, with a lot of 'crypto world application' reality. Only, this billion supply coin isn't going to come close to the $1k that Etherum hit.

Utter bullshit.

This misconception black people cannot swim comes from the 30's when they were segregated in public places. They were not allowed in swimming pools as whites believed they would contaminate the water. Whites also didn't want black males mingling with semi-naked white women.

They are just as capable of swimming. They culturally just don't have the want to do so.

Do you really believe a company like Google would partner with LINK unless sergey could give a damned good explanation for what the company will do with 2/3 of the supply? Seriously, does your misanthropic paranoia cloud your sense of logic that much? Were not dealing with literal street-shitting pajeets here who are in this for a quick buck; sergey and smartcontract arent going to dump or run with the 650m LINK. They are not going to sabotage a project that has this much promise nor would a company like Google ever trust a company without certain assurances in place and a rationale for their strategic use of the uncirculating supply. Which is exactly what is going to happen.

The team wants to be actively involved in deciding who ends up with the bulk of the tokens which is a crucial consideration in planning the real world use of LINK. The company made a strategic decision not to sell the lions share of their tokens at ICO into the hands of mostly speculators (who are actually the ones in it for a quick buck and not really interested in using the coins). Frankly its insane to believe that acquisition of the full supply of a project through mining or ICO is healthy for that project. As a company you would have no control over how your fledgling network gets to develop and whether its speculators looking to flip/manipulate the coin or if its people who actually want to run nodes or otherwise contribute to the networks success. SC will use the supply to incentivize and equip partners who will actually use and support the network— partners who will take interest and come out of the woodwork as the projects promise becomes more apparent... another reason it wouldnt really have made sense to sell all the coins at ICO. A minority will be held by the founders and team, sold for further development of the project as the need arises, and used for strategic acquisitions like TC.

I genuinely can't afford to put another dime in. I overdrafted my checking this month because of an accidental credit card payment, that's how close I'm cutting it. Zero in savings, zero in checkings. The only step I haven't taken is cashing out my 401k. I'm not a retard. But I'm basically living paycheck to paycheck.

I missed ETH when I knew better, I had a good amount of BTC that I sold at $600 thinking I made a killing. I will not make the same mistake again. My ticket is punched and I'm already on the train. I'm just drinking tea waiting for for our inevitable departure.

Also, don't go with bitcoin. Transfer your money onto some exchange, use that money to buy ripple, transfer that ripple to your binance wallet, sell the ripple on binance for bitcoin and then buy chainlink. Bitcoin costs a lot to transfer and takes fairly long, whereas ripple can transfer within half a millisecond at the cost of a thousandth of a cent.

On the very small chance that bsv works and gets unlimited block size and everything gets stored on its blockchain, there may eventually be no need for link as everything can just be stored on bsv.

That said, I'm not sure bsv will ever hit unlimited block size. I'm not sure bsv will even work. I'm not sure that even if bsv does work and.hits unlimited block size, it will immediately spell doom for link since it would take everyone time to migrate to bsv and even if everyone does migrate to bsv, you'll need some kind of chainlink like system for migrating the data into bsv in the first place... So it's more like a far distant future hedge against the risk of maybe bsv actually working.

fren, lets first consider the tokenomics. Many skeptics have incorrectly pointed out that with a 1 billion total link supply, the market cap of link would have to reach absurd levels to reach $1000. The reason they are incorrect is that that 1 billion will never be in circulation.

Node operation is not bitcoin mining, but it is similar in its reward structure and the attenuation of those rewards overtime. Chainlink needs to keep a reserve of tokens in order to pay out the node operators for their tx services. that reserve will get increasingly smaller and the node rewards will decrease accordingly much like a bitcoin halving. In order for that to make sense the value of the token has to increase. That's a fact proven by the behavior of bitcoin over the past ten years.

But even then you might say, theres still too damn many tokens in circulation! Link will never reach a trillion market cap and this is all absurd. Well then we come to your next problem which is the liquidity of an asset. When people say that link tokens are locked in nodes what they are really saying is that they are illiquid. They cannot be easily moved into the circulating supply and are not available for trade.

So now we have 3 levels of liquidity. Trading tokens which node operators sell to cover costs and garner profit, node tokens, and finally reserve tokens for node operation payout. The real circulating supply will certainly be less than 10% of the total supply, meaning that the value of the token can rise far higher without reaching an absurd market cap.

>Also node operators have the issue of incompetently managing their node, which means their investments will vanish

there are already staking services like linkpool covering this issue. You don't need to run a neet node to earn dividends. You can spread out that risk by staking your link with node services. There will certainly be assurances for the value of your link based on their malfeasance.

Thank you for taking the time to explain all of this; however, why do you prefer staking link vs cashing out the tokens and moving into more traditional investments like VTSAX? Most index funds pay out 2% in dividends as well and will continue to be around as long as society is still functioning.

>> No.14186104

>There is also the problem of big suits preferring already established nodes vs neet nodes

so you have wisely considered the problem of monopolistic forces resulting in consolidation. That's smart of you, but you haven't thought it through fully. The value of each token is in major part determined by the value of the network. Chainlink COULD become consolidated into a few trusted nodes, but how would that be different from today? Decentralization is the entire point of the network, and each link/node holder has a vested interest in the health of the network. Neet nodes will absolutely be viable because you need that level of decentralization to maintain trust in the network and therefore the value of the network/token.

>> No.14186127

>>14186077
I believe that the node dividends will vastly outperform traditional investments in the next 20 years. If i find that to be wrong, i'll sell to a node operator and move onto the next big thing. But right now, i am not fucking selling.

Also, the most bullish estimates have a single link token valued at $140k at the point of network maturation. With your current stack you are in the billionaire waiting room.

>> No.14186134

>Neet nodes will absolutely be viable
How would the neet node operator make decent profit if their node is not being used frequently? If there are 10k nodes, it is safe to say the network is decentralized; however, if only a few of the 10k are used in any frequent fashion, a majority of the other node operators are not getting a good ROI.

Link is going to make it because it is going to be a new financial instrument designed to at minimum act as collateral for the quadrillion dollar derivatives market. Crypto is going to make it because of generational wealth transfer. The boomers are fucking dying off. Boomers made millions off of harleys and baseball cards because boomers CARE about those things.
