can someone tell me how i lost money???

ok, so I had a 60% loss on a IDEX coin i wont name... keeping it a secret because i dont want you guys to find out about it, but i sold at 60% loss for ETH so i can buy in cheaper later.(accumulating). i ended up buying another coin and i got lucky after a few days and it pumped. so i ended up selling at a 60% gain. but somehow I have a lot LESS ETH than i began with??? it should be the exact same amount, or close to the same amount. it is because of the fees or did i get scammed somehow? please help. -60% then plus 60% should be the same fucking amount.
