LGCY is an energy company who just released a statement saying they've come to a forbearance agreement with their lenders, meaning the only thing keeping them from going bankrupt and being valued at $0.00/share is their bank agreeing to give them a little more time to come up with the money they owe

>Tuesday's rally was so broad much of the buying decisions were computer-generated. For evidence, look at the uniformity of the S&P 500, Nasdaq and Dow gains. And a trigger may have been that that the relative strength indexes of the major market indicators had fallen below 30 on Monday. An RSI under 30 is often a buy signal.

I think you are right, but my thesis of Trump wants full protectionism is building. I think he wants tariffs on mexico, regardless. He just wants tariffs and trade restrictions.

I'm not 100% sure on why. Maybe to show China he's not going to blink and he's actually the craziest guy at the table. Or maybe he really believes that tariffs are good for his approval and hurt the economies of other countries. Maybe he's just trying to distract from Mueller shit.

Less likely: Maybe he wants a dip, so it can then rip closer to election. Maybe he wants a dip thinking that people will never want an anti-business dem during a recession.

Trump is clawing back a level trading field. Every President since Reagan has allowed corporate America to sell off our GDP to the highest bidder, to get maximized profits. It's healthier for us to sell more, and import less. That's not rocket science. He's a businessman, not a politician, he knows where the problems are, and he's addressing them.
And that has fuck all to do with what's going on in the market. ETFs aren't the rocket ride they once were especially tech ETFs, and tech overall is in a slump, especially social media. With the Fed now looking into Google's trade practices, you'll see more slump, a lot more, in that sector.
This is realignment. It happens, just like recessions.

I don't disagree that the US is at a trading disadvantage in many markets, tech seems like a big one with China.

1. do you really think he's doing this because he is taking a big-picture, long-term view of the economy?

Yes. That's obvious.

>2. do you think his recent actions against Mexico, India, Australia, others that I forget are consistent with this approach?

Absolutely. He can't get Congress to back him, so he's using the powers he has, like tariffs, to get what he wants.

I get that you might not get that, because we haven't had a president willing to do what Trump is, in our lifetime. Everyone since Reagan, and probably includes Carter and Ford, got on their knees selling off our GDP, at first to Japan, now China.

>3. do you think his recent actions fucking with US titans of tech and AT&T are consistent with this?

Sort of. He's against monopolies, and he might be showing his trustbuster hand. Corporations are getting too powerful, he's trying to reign them in. But he's fighting Congress, who hold the real power to change it.

Companies aren't doing stock splits anymore. Amazon is $1700, GOOG and GOOGL are each over $1000, and Berkshire's class A stock is $300,000 per share. (1 person on RH owns BRK.A, I think it was a "free stock" as a publicity stunt or something). Point is, people aren't used to splits anymore, and would likely panic rather than take it as something exciting. It would be good if they did do splits though, make it easier for less wealthy investors to write covered calls, DCA, etc.

Wish I lived somewhere more rural or near a proper running path. There are some nearby I just can't get to them from my house without a struggle

Here, take a look at the Salad & Pickles weekly chart with fib lines added. I'm not a big fan of fibby lines but they can be helpful to figure out where supports may form after vigorous selling pressure over a relatively short period of time. Chart here shows bulls entering the field in numbers just a bit shy of the 38.2% retrace line. Daily RSI on May 31 fell to a low of 32.1, close but not touching officially oversold territory.

Anyway. TA hokum etc etc, this is a technical bounce. It isn't indication of a short term bullish reversal unless the bulls manage to bust through the resistances formed on the way down from 2958 high. I expect the important decisive trading to occur at around 2880-2890 range.

Moving over to the daily chart, there are some other reasons for the bounce as well as the strength of the buying today. On June 3 the daily candle fell below the lower bollinger band. No matter what the trend, prices tend to bounce back in to the bollinger band range quickly. Again, by no means an indication of reversal but a valid data point as part of a short term trading strategy. Secondly, today's bull buying was sufficient to break the daily candle above the 200 day simple moving average (yellow line). A break above that line is a buy indicator for a lot of people, which is why today's moved turned out to be as strong as it was. If buying had weakened when the candle approached that line, you would have seen a sell off back down to near low of day.

with theta and whatever you're looking at slightly higher value to sell the puts tomorrow if GameStop opens at 5.48

but it could (probably will) open above 5.48, usually after-hours sell-offs like that overreact and recover a little bit on market open.
If it goes down further, you make more money.

your choice is to hold for friday, sell, or some combo

It is probably a majority vote of the Board of Directors. I was wondering if you knew the answer before I go off and look it up. Someone has the legal power to make the 'big' decisions.

I understand that some negotiation takes place before the final BO decision, that isn't what I was asking.

“Nominal GDP growth over the past five years would have been negative if U.S. public debt had not increased,” said Gundlach. “One thing everybody seems to miss when they look at these GDP numbers ... they seem to not understand that the growth in the GDP it looks pretty good on the screen is really based exclusively on debt - government debt, also corporate debt and even now some growth in mortgage debt.”

If the U.S. Treasury had avoided increasing its debt then nominal GDP would have been negative in three of the last five years, “even with all of the exact mortgage, corporate, and student loan growth that occurred,” Gundlach told Reuters in an email, following the webcast.

“If those non-Treasury debt categories had not grown, either, GDP would have been very negative.”

Nominal GDP rose by 4.3%, but total public debt rose by 4.7% over the past five years, Gundlach noted.

As for real time TA, I don't, much. Most of my trades are based on a several month projected move up or down. Watching real time price fluctuations isn't that important for me unless it's one of those days where everything is going bananas and nobody knows wudda fug.

I have slowly come to the terrible revelation that none of you know what the fuck you are doing. I have a Master's in Accountancy with a Minor in Finance. I work for a fortune 100 as a corporate accountant with a CMA and CPA. I used to have some faith in anon. None of you know how to actually value a company. You have no fucking clue how taxes work. You can't read financial statements. For fuck's sake you think TA works and the entire field of decision science churns out dissertations every other day highlighting their absolute dismay at the fact that brainlets ever consider using it. You have no idea what Dunning-Kruger is. You don't know what survivorship bias is. You are too fucking uneducated and stupid to comprehend how fucked you are.

Idk why I'm even posting this, fucking goodluck kids.

It really bothers me how much the financial media breaks down Fed communicationa word by word. These financial analysts from CNBC, Bloomberg, and the big institutions get all hyped up about a few words in a speech and act like it's news that will shake the world. Yeah algos are fed this data and act accordingly, but these fucking frat bros with suits on getting all emotional almost makes me just hate the whole system. The Fed needs to do something about how it communicates with the world, in my opinion the less the better.

It's because the fed puts out the same boilerplate after every meeting with only a word here and there adjusted. So a different word or slightly adjusted phrase is meaningful. That's the fed's doing, not really the media's.

Alright, guess I'll make an account.
Thanks.

I dislike TA when it comes to shapes and patterns, connecting lines to tell the future. But I think things like the Bollingers can be useful, since they're really just tracking based on standard deviations, and it's a more useful way for humans to visualize it than a bunch of numbers.

Apparently head and shoulders has some predictive power, I don't know.
