Link is an erc20 token. You can send it to any Ethereum address.

You're safe in MEW.
You'll eventually have to swap your tokens out like everyone when mainnet comes.

Remember, LINK is the last golden ticket out of poverty and you should never store 100% of your linkies in a single place. As unlikely as it is, someone could hack Binance or even Ethereum itself and steal everything you own.

Thankfully, since LINK is a blockchain-agnostic project, that means it can be stored on ANY chain using ANY wallet in existence! Sergey and Steve actually guarantee this interoperability in the white paper and it is a large part of what makes the project so appealing in the first place. Because of this, I strongly encourage all linkmarines to split their stack evenly across as many of the following as they can muster:

>Ethereum wallet (MyEtherWallet is always good)
>Several different exchanges (Binance, Coinbase, and Gemini are highly trusted) so if one goes down it's not game over
>Bitcoin wallet - Bitcoin is the O.G. blockchain after all and probably more hackproof than any other in existence.
>Monero wallet - storing your LINKs on the Monero chain has the added advantage of obscuring your trade history from the feds. When you finally cash out you won't need to pay any taxes on your LINK stack.
>Skycoin wallet - Storing your linkies in a Skycoin wallet will actually earn you coinhours passively! It's like earning node dividends without the wait or hassle.
>Try looking for little-known crypto projects that might have a fork in their future. If you store LINK on their wallet when the fork occurs, you get free forked LINK!

There are just a few ideas, but there are innumerable safe places to spread your LINK stack out in. As you can see, it's almost irresponsible to keep all your LINK in a dusty old MEW wallet when there's so many perks to storing it elsewhere. Keeping your link spread out like this also helps against the temptation to sell your LINK prematurely during the climb to $1000. Personally, I have my LINK spread out over 8 different wallets and 5 different exchanges, and I've never felt comfier

>Can you just withdraw link to a MEW address?
Short answer yes.
1. Set up MEW
2. if you have a lot, suggest you use a hardware wallet such as Trezor or ledger (although kind of fuck ledger because they really fucked up the latest firmware update)
3. MEW will give you the address on ethereum blockchain
4. Go to binance, see your link section, and click the withdraw button
5. put in your MEW address
6. MOST IMPORTANT -- just send a FEW tokens as a test to make sure everything is working correctly. Yes you will pay a (very small) extra fee (since each withdrawal costs a fee) but well worth it
7. Verify that small test withdrawal went through by checkin on MEW to make sure it is in there. NOTE; you need to check your TOKEN BALANCES. It is NOT going to show up in your Ether balances. Best actually to check by going to etherscan.io and then adding in your address.
8. Once you have verified that test transacation went through (should be less than 10 minutes) THEN send a larger transaction through to MEW

It's blockchain agnostic. You can send it to any wallet you want.

Fuck you asshole for spreading this fucked up copypasta. Lots of folks buying link as their ticked out of a fucked up life. And you are spreading BS just to fuck with them. Seriously fuck off. What are you trying to gain by encouraging some anon to lose their 500 link stack?

OP this asshole is spreading BS. You can only store on an ethereum wallet. you can verify yourself using the method I described above. send a small test transaction -- ALLWAYS send a test transaction first. You cannot store link on Monero wallet or on Bitcoin wallet, as you will see if you try to send 1 or 2 link to one of these wallets.

Seriously go fuck yourself. What do you possibly have to gain by spreading this bs.

OP, YES it is blockchain agnostic meaning that link can SUPPORT smart contracts on a bunch of different blockchains, but for now at least you can only STORE it on an ethereum wallet. Seriously fuck off you assholes trying to fuck with people.

>If linkies are on ledger, do I need to use MEW to either check balance or to move it later on? Do I need to register with MEW to do that?

There are TWO ways to store tokens using hardware wallet.
1) you use the hardware wallet to control access to MEW. THIS is what I do and what I recommend
2) you store on the hardware wallet using the APP for ethereum on the hardware wallet. This can also work, but I prefer the user interface on MEW.

>> No.13783334

>>13783261
You can use anything to access your LINK, such as MEW or Ledger Live. MEW is just like an interface.
You don’t need to use MEW, you can use ethplorer and whatever else exists out there to look at the balance. And you don’t need to register with MEW.
Ledger is like a jar of ants, and MEW is like forceps you use to remove ants. There are other ways to move them and you can look at them through other lenses.

Holy shit fuck OFF with your fud.
Link is unique in that it is an erc677 token (see the whitepaper) which means it was specifically designed to have an interoperability function. You probably noticed Sergey has been highlighting this feature recently. Basically they designed it from the ground up to be blockchain agnostic, that way the network could still function no matter which blockchain(s) succeeded in the end. This means that you can store the token in nearly any wallet you desire. Back in the day I moved the bulk of my coins from etherdelta onto my monero wallet in order to keep my holdings private. In order to diversify I have also transferred my tokens into xrp and nano wallets. I chose these two chains because although they are not private, they can transact very quickly and I want to get my coins off binance as quickly as possible. I would recommend transferring to one of these two first just to get off the exchange, then transfer to monero once you've read up on how to do it. Consider the monero one cold storage (much harder to steal if it cannot be found!) and the other wallets to be warm wallets you will transfer or transact more regularly from.

Here faggot, add your ETH address to the end of the etherscan link and then bookmark it to check your wallet. Your ledger holds your private keys, the device itself is your account on MEW.

Dude give it up. Move on. OP is thankfully ignoring you.

To anybody else reading -- if you take ONE thing from this thread -- ALWAYS send a small test transaction first.

That way you can verify that everything is working. So, if, e.g. you listened to fuckface here and tried to use a Monero wallet as cold stroage, you would send, say 10 links, and you would see that the transaction did not go through.

ALWAYS send a test transaction first.

Anyways I told him to use an easy wallet like xrp or nano first. Then he can try a privacy chain once he's comfortable.
