Hey /biz/ I have a non crypto related question. I recently discovered some tools which I would like to sell in my country. The tool manufacturer is based in the UK and I would like to sell the items in Europe. Now I'm just wondering what is the best course of action.
Should I ask for exclusive rights to import these tools into my country or should I just try to drop ship?
When you approach them to sell their goods, do they want some references from you or some minimum order?
Do you just shoot them an e-mail or do you fly and arrange a meeting?
Would really appreciate input from people who are doing shit like this or are trying to get into it.

Pic unrelated but a qt

How do you plan to sell them? On a website or in a physical store? And how much capital do you have to start?

The dropshipping route is not ideal unless you have very little money to start. It will be hard to make money dropshipping unless you can negotiate very good margins (30%+). You may have to demonstrate you can sell lots of the product for the manufacturer to give you a rate like that.

However, dropshipping has its benefits too.

Otherwise, if you're licensed to do business in Europe, have a professional setup (store, website), can afford the minimum order and agree to abide by their rules (minimum retail price, etc), then they should sell to you.

You should be able to just email or call and ask for info on becoming a retailer. They'll send you a price list, terms, etc.

That's the problem I was thinking in investing a web shop because shipping from UK is fairly fast combined with a local warehouse with a minimal stock of tools which if broken could be replaced or repaired. I would say I have at best 10k eur to start.(I know, not a lot)

Problem is I don't have any reputation. I'm new to the business and I never did stuff like this before so I'm mainly thinking how to present myself as competent.

You shouldn't have to worry about that. Just call or email them and request all the info. Then run the numbers. If they offer dropshipping, you can go that route first and then save up money for the minimum orders using your profits. Then you can buy directly and make better margins.

Regarding your "reputation", some manufacturers only want to sell to companies that can guarantee a certain sales volume and you won't be able to do that with a brand new webstore. Other manufacturers will not care if your small or new. You'll have to find that out.
