Are you kidding me? BTC gets attacked the most on here with BCH / BSV etc, that shit happens every single fucking day. Tether, binance hack, etc are all blamed on BTC (even though tether could be used to buy ETH and the binance hack also affects ETH in terms of liquidity).

I rarely see a thread attacking ETH.

The reason ETH is not up is because the only purpose of ETH is ICOs. Any real dapps like crypto kitties will crash the entire network.

You're literally bag holding a coin where the creators printed 72 million ETH for themselves and their investors (which means right now they hold more coins than has been ever mined on ETH). You don't know the ETH supply a year from now and you sure as hell don't know what that supply cap is. Whatever VB says goes.

Proof of work - doing billions of computations per second, forcing miners to build better and better systems to protect the network, get rewarded.

Proof of stake - Put money in. Hey look I put money in, the network is now secured! Thanks, now I get more money.

You have to recognize ETH devs & investors printed 72 million ETH for themselves. They hold majority stake. You must remember ETH did not start as a fair system. It was and still is, tilted towards ETH devs & investors. This is especially important when you recognize that ETH devs changed the rate of ETH token generation, with such ease. Therefore, you cannot know ETH's supply a year from now, how much ETH will be generated, and you cannot know ETH's supply limit.

That itself is crazy. No sane person with capital would store their wealth in such a system.

In a PoS system, the majority always wins. That means the majority holders right now, are ETH investors & devs. If it goes to PoS right now, ETH investors & devs can stake their coins, giving them full control over the network as they hold the majority. They will clam the 49% (aka you, and all coins that have been mined) are attacking the network because they control the majority consensus. Since they claim you are attacking the network, your stake is slashed and all bases belongs to them.

It is absolutely insane. If ETH had a fair start (where ETH supply started at 0, I'd say collusion described above is much less likely). But that's not the case. Before any blocks were mined, there were already 72 million ETH, generated from nothing.

Logically, PoS can have a chance after ETH investors & devs only hold like 20-30%. That means ETH supply needs to be at least 216 million ETH. Since the devs already purposefully reduced the ETH supply, this is not likely to happen any time soon so they are strengthening their grip on the entire network.

Look at the fucking economics of how this coin is setup. It's not fair and it's not in your favor.

>You have to recognize ETH devs
>They hold majority stake
That's true for newer coins but ethereum foundation was nearing bankruptcy at some point, making them sell a lot. Many devs publicly sold nearly everything (eg. Vlad Zamfir sold ~100% of his initial stake for single digits, leading to his eternal butthurt).
>investors
that's true for every coin by definition
>and you cannot know ETH's supply limit.
it's irrelevant once PoS goes live, because whatever the inflation is you're going to earn it + fees
>They will clam the 49% (aka you, and all coins that have been mined) are attacking the network because they control the majority consensus. Since they claim you are attacking the network, your stake is slashed and all bases belongs to them.

> brainlet tier conspiracy theory

It is not a conspiracy, that's by definition how the network will function. Majority consensus always wins and that's it. There's no "proof" of "work" needed to come to that conclusion.

Also, just because someone sold doesn't mean they didn't buy. You cannot assume they never bought back.

Anyway, just my 2 cents and opinion. No one reads this board anyway and the price won't move depending on what I post. In my opinion, there are fundamental flaws. You're welcome to trade this coin all you want and make way more money I'll ever have. My only recommendation is to not store your wealth in it.

I can because their butthurt about speculators never went away. It's enormous.
It's the reason the pow inflation cut was so mild and so hard to attain. Eth inflation is still higher than btc's, although by less than 1 percentage point.

The only eth dev that still owns a lot is vitalik, and not surprisingly he is the sole voice for low inflation and capped supply (idea appears to be shelved) with every other dev wanting higher inflation.

ETH is actually closer to digital gold than BTC is. Gold has some utility, other than being used as a currency. ETH has some utility other than being used as a currency. BTC does not. I would much rather be holding something that has some type of utility, even if that utility is just running online casinos/ICOs/blockchain games.

it was a mistake in hindsight, but at the time people believed that up to 15% of all eth supply was at risk of being stolen.
When Parity lost enormous amounts due to the bug in their multisig contract, tried to force a bailout and failed.
>who's going to be able to even validate such a bloated shitcoin
All the lies you heard about enormous blockchain are false. The blockchain itself is smaller than in bitcoin at 75GB. A full node which puts everything into a database needs 162GB (Parity).
https://etherscan.io/chartsync/chaindefault

Eth 2.0 is going to sync much faster there's going to be state rent, meaning storing data is going to cost something per unit of time.
>right now the miners decide who gets to run a validating node
what?
>and all you idiots are running pruned non validating nodes
if you mean a light node, it's a much safer equivalent of electrum and only one option. It's easy to sync a full node.

bitching about cryptokitties clogging ethereum is the litmus test for dunning-kruger opinions about this
the gas market performed as intended during the initial rush. the network literally never slowed down or crashed. newbies letting their gas price autosuggested to 20 by primitive wallets got their tx stuck for a while, that's about it. worth noting at 100 gas price, ethereum transactions were still cheaper than bitcoin
no later than the next weekend, eth devs of all stripes came up with network improvements to drive down the costs and increase thoroughput
three weeks later, costs were back to normal
then for the following year and a half, regular improvements were made
hundreds of dapps have been running on layer 1. layer 2 solutions have matured through 2018, and some popular dapps seamlessly run millions of transactions there

Dogecoin has more transactions than 99% of cryptos

This doesn't mean that buying XMR right now isn't like buying Bitcoin when it was solely used on the deep web in 2011/2012.
Who the fuck accepts a meme coin like Ethereum on the deepweb?

why are you asking for financial advice on a mongolian basket weaving forum?

>> No.13597947

>>13597911
Because crypto is such a heavily manipulated market that any advise is pretty much equally likely to be good advice and I won't be able to buy a whole BTC for who knows how long since it started moving upward in spite of th Binance news before I could buy one.

Imagine thinking eth is going to “moon” any more than it already did. BTC might keep mooning to 50k or something, but eth is done. It’ll NEVER be higher than 1k ever again. It’s a piece of shit
