Materials scientist here. Forget about construction; anything not based on wood, sand, or iron is too expensive. Pretty sure the main applications are in textiles. I was in a lab that looked at spider silk for ballistic applications, but iirc it isn't stiff enough (energy from impact doesn't propagate away quickly enough). A stop loss begins an instant market sell order the moment your price is triggered, no matter what, it's trying to work for you to get you out of the market.

A stop limit requires you to enter two prices, I believe.
