btc is clearly the better choice as a store of value long term. if something better than eth comes around it will destroy eth. the same is not so for btc

Bitcoin is King, not even kidding. Always buy BTC. Other coins exist for the sole purpose of speculating and swing trading so you can accumulate more BTC. Maybe one day alts will actually become a good investment but that is years away. Just look at the prices and how many scams already died in 2 years. If you account is fat enough just pour a bit on ETH and other good projects, but for now focus on Bitcoin.
