>invited to interview with super small company
>didn't want the job but went anyway
>acted like I didn't care in the interview
>guy called me arrogant and said "you disappoint me"
>laughed in his face
>all in it was actually a pretty interesting experience talking to someone so honest and who knew his shit
>went home and didn't think much of it
>surprised to get a job offer the next day
>salary is way in excess of my current role
>accepted it
>been here a month, guy hasn't checked my criminal background, if the degree I said I had even exists or if I actually worked for the multi-billion company I said I did

Are all small businesses like this?

Can you actually do the job? That's almost all they care about. They don't have tons of money to blow on hr procedural nonsense.

I'd say so as it's what I was doing prior, he's not very forthcoming with positive feedback with anyone I've noticed. He has expressed that he's been pleased with quite a few things I've done though.

>They don't have tons of money to blow on hr procedural nonsense.
Equally means that this wasn't an expensive hire (no money sink on training, integration, travel for interviews, equipment, job listing etc. etc.) and he wouldn't lose much by kicking me out.

This. They're also much better at finding out when people just phone it in. So if you can't do your part, expect to be let go right away.

This is one huge advantage they have over bigger operations. If you suck, you'll be gone in a month. You can't hide out with your head down for 10 years like a Boeing or some shit.

I was a recruiter for 5 years btw.

I hope so, I just had an interview with a tiny industrial plant (like 14 total hires) as an engineer assistant (to be replaced by me eventually if hired)

I hope the pay will be good like yours, idk it the company is going anywhere. It's been operating for like 30 years and used to do manufacturing of parts and now recycles a certain niche product for the past 10 years. I'm desperate bros

im graduating from business school in a couple weeks. My GPA isn't great so i'm planning to apply at smaller companies that don't have a bunch of incompetent HR roasties in charge of hiring. Where can i find smaller companies to apply at? I assume that most of them don't have adverts up on monster.com, you know?

there were many small companies who put job posting in my univeristy's career network.

They do post their adverts to hiring websites, not sure what makes you assume they dont.
