I can do practically none of these things because of the nature of my work (constantly monitoring the internet and media for big brother) and I have to be at my desk all the time unless I'm using the bathroom.

Good thing is that I get to shoot the shit with co-workers most of the day as long as nothing in the country is on fire, getting blown up/shot up, or annihilated by hurricanes at that time.

If you feel unsatisfied with your end of the deal as an employee, then figure out how to bring more to the table and leverage it for better pay and benefits. And if shekelberg isn't willing to come to agreeable terms, and you know you got the goods because you've been doing your due diligence, then start looking for other options and leverage those business arrangements. Everyone at my office works on a Thinkpad that you're allowed to take home. In the morning, I walk in carrying only my laptop and leave my coat, wallet, and laptop bag in my car. When I want to sneak out early I just pick up my laptop and leave. People think I'm walking to a meeting room but I'm actually exiting through the stairwell. Sometimes to confuse them I'll just leave the laptop at my desk and walk out, since I have a computer at home anyways. I also keep my phone and car key in my pocket at all times so my desk never has any indication if I'm still in the building or not.

That's a good mentality, but some people just aren't built to be shit on by a bad boss 8 hours a day. You get stuck coping with drugs, alcohol, office sex, or piss poor sleep/wake cycles, which are all dumb fucking decisions but you shouldn't pretend that people don't make them and if enough people are doing it, there's some emotional sense to it. It's easy to get locked under a toxic boss who doesn't teach you enough to escape your situation and apply for another job without taking a massive pay cut and endangering the paycheque to paycheque situation most Americans are living in.

If you do well in a STEM field at a decent college, disregard all that and continue to be a cock to people because you spent the only four years of your life that actually matter learning something that gave you worldwide mobility.

Even if you have the "skills", demonstrating you have them and convincing someone to give several thousands of dollar a year is harder. Good luck trying to get that job from shekelberg #2 when you got no reference to vouch for you (because you're looking for another job while still employed) and no actual experience in the position you want to get. You won't even get interviews and if you do, they'll pass you over because you have no experience and you're still an autist at seeming agreeable (what interviews still overwhelmingly favor).
