> Wasm in a blockchain sense is different than generalized Wasm modules for use in the browser. Ethereum WebAssembly (ewasm) is proposed as a means to replace the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). Switching to ewasm from the EVM should offer significantly cheaper execution costs on-chain. Polkadot (and Substrate) seem to simply be starting off by implmenting Wasm from the beginning. Smart contracts that compile to Wasm still need to be deterministic, which means the need for oracles remains unchanged.
>Going through this docs site is worth the time, since it's still relatively small, but very informative: https://ewasm.readthedocs.io/en/mkdocs/
