I dont think that alts are going to "destroy" BTC, it will always remain top 5 I think

But considering things like Monero can go 30x and still have less market cap than BTC, I think it an entirely safe bet that there will be MANY alts that outperform Bitcoin , while still having less market cap at the end of it

that being said, i dont think its shit like NANO or FANTOM, its actual adult coins with real purpose like Monero (privacy) Ethereum (DApps) or even BNB because binance is a leading exchange

I've been in Bitcoin for a long time. Newfags probably dont realize how quickly these shitcoin maximalists popped out of the woodworks. For 8 years Bitcoin was the center of attention, and altcoins were just cute little experiments that we traded to make more bitcoin. The Bitcoin community had a few scares like the Ghash and then BTC Guild hash wars, Mike Hearn's infamous "Bitcoin is dead" article, and the scaling drama. But it was seemingly business as usual.

Then all of a sudden it was like a cruise ship packed with retards landed on our island and started raping and pillaging our land. They took any speck of drama that was currently happening in the Bitcoin community and amplified it 100x, for the only purpose of advertising their new pump and dump shitcoin. We witnessed this on a small scale with the 2013/2014 shitcoins but this time was way different, the echochambers were amazingly effective at convincing people that these scams were actually serious projects. Vitalik coining the term "Bitcoin Maximalist" really added fuel to the fire too.

What you're seeing on places like r/cryptocurrency are remnants of this collective brainwashing that happened over the course of just a few months. This is why most oldfags push back on shitcoins so violently. We all saw how quickly the smear campaign unfolded. Any time a shitcoin is mentioned we can see past your elevator pitch bullet points. All we see is your raggedy, late adopter ass stumbling off a dilapidated cruise ship named "2017"

Let me ask you again if using cryptocurrencies for mainstream/everyday purchases is so great, so important etc then why aren't people using some fast shitcoins like nano or bcash to buy shit?

You do realize that in order for prcie of an asset to increase people have to hold (hoard) it? if it's a fast shitcoin changing hands in nanoseconds bewteen purchases then its market cap doesn't have any reason to be high. Look up 'token's velocity' and stop believing some keynesian retarded memes spread by vitalik and other retards like roger who think that a shitcoin will moon because many people use it (spend/sell). Nobody uses gold for almost anything nowadays, explain to me why it's worth $8T sitting in vaults doing nothing? because people fucking hoard it like motherfuckers shrinking the circulating supply, creating scarcity, do you even understand what I'm talking about

Fuck with the amount of retards still left in crypto I'm pretty sure this bear market will be way longer than anyone thought

go buy nano or some waltonchain and track your potatoes using muh blockchain technology

technology is valuable but not monetizaeble because it's all open source and can be copied
here are the things that CAN be monetized:
>immutability (btc)
>security/hashrate (btc)
>monetary properties/credibility (btc)
>network effect (btc)
etc

if the 'technology' and 'blockchain' are so great, why do you need a shitcoin to make money off of it huh?

Holy fuck I knew bitcoin maximalists were tech illiterate but god damn.

Again, if the only use for crypto is for the price to go up why would anyone buy bitcoin now? Is there even a 10x left in it at this point? People aren't interested in pumping your bags they want the maximum gains for themselves and that is NOT bitcoin, when will you retards get it through your thick fucking skulls holy shit.

Cool. You speak sense and I'm not one to tell you you're right or wrong. Like I said I'm in btc for the most part. Holding some alts maybe some do monetize the tech in whatever niche way they're using it. Maybe I'll make some profit if not for the tech then at least when the normies arrive during the next bull and they make the mistake you're arguing against here. Thanks for the opinions you have. Thoughtful

couldn't agree more with the majority of altcoins, theres maybe 4 or 5 coins I'd say that are actually legit things like monero and ethereum that have proven purposes to add to their network of users.

Love the elevator pitch analogy. My go to for spotting bullshit coins is when their website consists of a million different ideas, oh it's blockchain but more secure and faster, it's decentralized, it's file sharing, its cryptocurrency, it has future contracts. Like holy shit can you people make it anymore obvious this is just to sucker in newbies and boomers who don't know shit about crypto by using buzzwords and making it seem like this is going to apply to every possible industry ever

Because all of them are less than 3 years old and have still very little network effect today?
Bitcoin could have it by now if it wasn't so trash but instead it made barely any progresses in terms of UX in 10 years and created a vacuum that will be its demise in the coming decade.

> Nobody uses gold for almost anything nowadays, explain to me why it's worth $8T sitting in vaults doing nothing? because people fucking hoard it like motherfuckers shrinking the circulating supply, creating scarcity, do you even understand what I'm talking about

Egyptians used gold as money already 3000 years ago retard and it only stopped being really widely used less than 200 years ago, there is no way to predict the future and as such people will typically fall back on a monetary system with the most proven record in the eventuality of a problem with the current one.
Gold as a currency just works, even if we have a technological rollback to the middle-age it will still works.

>stop believing some keynesian retarded memes spread by vitalik and other retards like roger who think that a shitcoin will moon because many people use it (spend/sell).

The goal of a currency is to be used in order to BOTH store and exchange value in a PRACTICAL WAY.
Money velocity is too high related to its marketcap when the money in itself is garbage either because it can only buy one thing, like an utility token, and as such is not practical or because its value is unstable. In short when it's a hot potato that noone wants to keep.

BTC does not have the proven record to be used as a store of value, this retarded meme is just a gigantic COPE that fags like you swallowed when the network was shitting the bed and the people at the head weren't able to make it scale for just a tiny bit of use.

>Because all of them are less than 3 years old and have still very little network effect today?
LMAO, so a shitcoin needs years of getting hyped up to be used as a currency?
No it doesn't matter if it scales or not, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE to use cryptocurrencies for everyday use
how do you even imagine that? do you convert your entire salary/paycheck to your favorite shitcoin and and pay fees on that each time? what if your shitcoin tanks 20%? do you skip a few meals a week to not use it when it went down and do you buy things in bulk when your shitcoin goes up? it doesn't make any sense whatsoever, and no, your favorite utopian coin won't be stable or going up in value in a straight line no matter how much it's used or how well it scales, new assets with small market caps will always be volatile by nature
Collectible->Store of value->Medium of echange
in tha orded, not the other way around like keynesian brainlets think.

>Gold as a currency just works, even if we have a technological rollback to the middle-age it will still works.
bitcoin works way better than gold

>The goal of a currency is to be used in order to BOTH store and exchange value in a PRACTICAL WAY.
no one is gonna hold his entire savings in a volatile asset, people would rather keep putting some btc or other coin aside as savings so it appreciates over a LONGER period of time, not to fuking spend it on groceries the next day,if that was the case why even bother converting fiat to it when you were gonna spend that portion anyway?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with current payment methods/processors, is your user experience bad nowadays when you go to a store? is your visa/mc card too slow? is cash too heavy? no, that's not the problem
the only problem is that the jews print more and more money making fiat worthless, that's where DECENTRALIZED MONEY (btc) comes in. it's not about replacing visa/mc, it's about replacing central banks.

>> No.13127527

>>13127351
>this retarded meme is just a gigantic COPE that fags like you swallowed when the network was shitting the bed
no, everyone with half a brain was always bullish on btc because it was a breakthrough in creating and mantaining digital scarcity/decentralized monetary system, not becasue it was possible to pay for your cucumbers and milk in a store for hipsters
you don't gain anything by paying for shit with btc instead of fiat
you gain a lot by not getting cucked through inflation imposed by money printing jews

>and the people at the head weren't able to make it scale for just a tiny bit of use.
no one is gonna raise the block size like a retard and create a hardfork just because of 2 weeks of hype every few years. That usage didn't even come from any merchant adoption it was just speculation
rasing the blocksize is not the solution, end of story, btc is still no1 because it's the most credible crypto, your shitforks or centralized scams like nano have 0 credibility and they will be forgotten in a year or 2, you think they are so great but no one wants to either hold or use (buy and spend) them

I only hold coins that I actually use for something. ETH STEEM EOS seem to be the main ones right now with good shit on them I am actively using. I mean you guys can fuck around with your BTC shit coin ponzi garbage and get sub par gains.

Meanwhile I am actively in development of things that actually use the technology. And I WILL be shilling on here once the ball gets rolling. You think BTC is going to hold up after people like me get a foot hold of this shit? You are a sub par IQ brainlet at that point. Not one decent project I can think of exists on any of the BTC chains outside of centralized services that would honestly be better if it was a dapp.

Fuck r/cryptocurrency though. Reddit is a hive mind cess pool of garbage that makes 4chan look almost pristine in terms of honest discussion.
