That's not really true. Socialist policies have destroyed black communities in the US for example. They THINK they will benefit most from it, but they are wrong. No one really benefits from socialism.

No, the public is purposely ignored when it comes to teaching modern economic ideas. Socialism is like the Perpetual motion machine of economics. Nobody believes in perpetual motion machines because the laws of thermodynamics are commonly communicated. But with economics even the basics are unknown to the average person

This is why you still have people in favor of rent control, socialized medicine, welfare etc

Socialism is a variety of capitalism.

In any case, i dislike both.

In capitalism, the vast majority give their life to the owners of the mode of production.

In socialism, the middle and upper social layers give their money to both the poor and ultra rich.

Socialism is bad if you are upper social layer (engineer, doctor, senior executive...). You work your ass off for those over you (surplus labor for the owner of the mean of production) and under you (taxes).

Enacting capital punishment in socialism for those who do it might work but look in the past what happened to primetume socialism (Soviet Union). The leaders were a group of friends having a laugh and killing anyone who opposed them. Heck even Stalin died because his own supporters were so afraid of him that they feared if they helped him and failed they would be killed. FYI the soldiers guarding Stalin were killed after his death so that the rumours wont spread. Thats prime time socialism!
