>have worked a corporate level job since I graduated college
>have been promoted twice, now make $70k+ a year if you include bonus (bonus is usually between 10% - 15% of salary based on how the company performs)
>still fucking hate it, even if they paid me more I would still hate it
>have thought about applying elsewhere but am afraid it will just be more of the same

How do you guys manage this? It's all such fucking bullshit. It wouldn't be that bad if I could just be left alone to sit in my cubicle to do my work but I have to deal with

>constant recurring meetings for the sake of having recurring meetings
>managers constantly shilling whatever TED talk or self help book that has caught on and requiring me to read/watch
>constant promotion of the whole "my work is my life" attitude
>coworkers complaining about their dumb problems that I don't care about and having to hear about this every day five days a week
>manufactured top priority requests that aren't actually top priority

At this point I basically just tune out when I'm at work. I show up on time. I leave on time. I don't take work home. I don't really care what happens to me at this point. I don't even really care about advancing my "career" at this point because that would just mean more responsibility and more time at work. I've basically been promoted as high as I can go anyway without switching jobs/moving out of the department.

I've been working this job for four years and I don't understand how people deal with this day in and day out until they retire.

How do I get out of this stupid fucking loop?

You can try working on your own projects while you are still employed. Once your side hustle takes off you can quit and be free. You need to have an entrepreneurial spirit and be self motivated for this, though.

Otherwise, suck it up and climb the corporate ladder. You can also try to find a job you're more passionate about. It sounds like you really don't like what you're doing currently.

>> No.13086217

Sounds like you have grit but need to find your passion. Apply your face off elsewhere. Something that makes you want to move and do something about. Find that passion. My story is rather long but perhaps another day. I did work for a corporate job as a project manager and it drove me insane. Meetings. Working in a office. Morale events. All waste of time. So I took a leap and went for a small company that takes on global projects and I knew this would be a tough road but if I could find away and jump out of that box and go. O could be something. So I did. Never been more happier in my life. Be honest with yourself and you will find it.

This same thing happened to me. I basically did it until I couldn't anymore and they were on the verge of firing me, so I quit. I would recommend you start working on a side business before that happens.

OP most jobs are like this (Unless you're employee >100 at a tech startup but for the most part thats not much different just more interesting)

So yeah you can make something happen for yourself or join everyone else silently suffering

Thanks anon. I think part of my problem is that I'm so full up with meetings yet still expected to do other work.

I mean, I don't necessarily mind meetings and I also don't mind having to sit at my desk for 8 hours a day pumping out work but don't expect me to spend 4 hours of my day in meetings and 4 hours of my day at my desk and have 8 hours worth of work ready, if that makes sense. It doesn't help too that the meetings are interspersed throughout the day.

I might have one meeting from 8:00 - 9:00 and then another from 10:00 - 11:00. I mean what am I realistically supposed to be doing in that one hour when you consider I probably need to spend at least 20 minutes of that hour for preparing for the next meeting.

It's like this every day. Idk, you're probably right. Maybe I should try finding some smaller companies. It seems like then at least your responsibility is greater meaning your satisfaction of work is greater. Idk, I'm drunk rn honestly. Thanks for posting some advice.

what do you do now?

>> No.13086368

Small companies with the right values. Find that finite company that are looking for real people. Folks that are out of the box. Synergy driven. Fast tempo. Many hats. Work from home and travel. Those are keys. Commutes are wasted time that could be with your loved ones. Find that and you can maximize your overall life output. Meaning living full of life and enjoying the expiernces that come along with it.

you wont know how good you have it till you lose this job

>> No.13086845

I am in the same situation OP, but without the meetings. I have a good job for someone with no college and I feel like I'm wasting my life. Also different, I work from home and travel frequently but still feel like I'm wasting my life on something I don't give a shit about.

>> No.13086896

I bet most of the meetings were created for the sole purpose of having "work" for the useless people in the company to do.

I had a coworker who quit and moved to a bigger company with higher salary but ended up hating it.

I don't think I've ever met another Millennial that was able to get a job that paid more than $15 an hour, much less a corporate job. This is clearly a LARP.
